It’s a bummer for sure but totally related to the German postal issues for overseas shipping going on right now. Read the footnote at the very bottom. They’re forced to go with DHL right now. Amazon UK has it priced better and haven’t checked the other usual UK sources yet. Another option I’m looking at is Rarewaves, although not sure if they’re competitive to Canada.

Such a great record though. Give it a listen if you haven‘t.

"Love You Madly: Live at Bubba's," a previously-unissued recording from August 6, 1982 captured live at Bubba's Jazz Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I've known Monty since I was first turned on to his music while working at PolyGram in the mid-1990s. I had the pleasure of doing promotion/marketing for his Island Jamaica Jazz album, "Yard Movement," and he's been one of my very favorite pianists ever since. This is such an exciting opportunity to reconnect with him all these years later, and we've pulled out all the stops to create an over-the-top package to honor Monty and his legacy in this music.


The limited-edition 180g 2LP set (and deluxe 2CD set, out 12/4) was mastered by Bernie Grundman, pressed at RTI, and features Monty with bassist Paul Berner (Lionel Hampton Orchestra), drummer Duffy Jackson (Milt Jackson, Benny Carter) and percussionist Robert Thomas Jr. (Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius, Carlos Santana). Besides the tremendous performances, it's also an analog audiophile 24-track recording by Mack Emerman, the legendary founder of Miami's Criteria Recording Studios, where the Bee Gees, Eric Clapton, the Allman Brothers, Aretha Franklin and others recorded some of their biggest pop hits. These tapes come from Monty's personal archives and were remixed by George Klabin at Village Recorders.

The extensive booklet includes rare photos by Jan Persson, Brian McMillen, Tom Copi and Brigitte Charvolin; a main overview essays by writer/presenter Willard Jenkins; intros by yours truly and Resonance founder George Klabin; interviews with Monty and the band members; plus interviews and statements from NEA Jazz Master

I want to thank George Klabin, as always, for making this release possible. George and Monty have a special friendship that goes back to the 1960s, when George would play his debut album "Alexander the Great" on his show at WKCR and saw him play at Jilly's Club in Manhattan. I'd also like to give my sincere thanks to Monty and his wife/manager, Caterina Zapponi, for their passion and support. Thanks also to each and every person who contributed their time and thoughts to making this such a wonderful tribute to Monty. I also want to, once again, thank Michael Kurtz and Carrie Colliton from Record Store Day for their continued support in making these releases possible.

Have to admit that I am unfamiliar with Monty, but you cant go wrong with a Resonance release so im sure it will be worth it. This one is penned in for a Black Friday 2020 RSD release, mastered by Bernie Grundman and pressed at RTI.

EABS have a new album coming out in a couple of months. After tackling Polish jazz and Komeda, they seem to be doing Sun Ra on this one. Thanks to their lovely A&R man I've had a sneak listen and it sounds amazing. Properly excited for this...

Finally got the chance to throw this on, and WOW what a great recommendation. This is one of the best sounding live recordings I now own. Roy Brooks' drums are incredible on this! The sound is popping out of my speakers as if they're playing right next to me. Really incredible stuff, definitely jump on this box if you get the chance. I'm glad I did. Thanks again for recommending this.

I've got the Analogue Productions 33RPM pressing and it sounds wonderful! 45RPM will definitely sound a bit better, but I am very happy with my 33RPM pressing! It's got great soundstage and great separation and the it sounds very natural and organic! I love spinning it!

I have an order in the post, I got tempted with the 15% off, I'm paying around $40 for 6 records. If you process the request & you don't like the shipping terms I'm sure you don't need to proceed. It takes them a little while to calculate shipping, but they seem quiet good.

I have used them before, the big issue is that they use Fedex, I think the same applies with Music Direct. With Fedex you always get stung with 'admin charges' and of course import duty. I much prefer ordering from someone like Deep discount where it's all calculated & paid up front, and as such is cheaper. But obviously they don't have the same stock.

If you find any cheaper stores to import from do let me know :)

It certainly isnt cheaper than what @Andy just referenced, but Scott Nagle sells a lot of AP imports.

You have Vinyl Gourmet in Portugal. Not the cheapest but at least it's in Europe.

Thanks for your comments, its hugely appreciated and all helps to make a decision!

I think I'm gonna go for it. Guessing with postage and import fees it's gonna be a good chunk more, but it's been a frustrating album to get a good pressing of and sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do 😁
