Jazz

Just as a heads up, the Craft/Contemporary Ornette Coleman box is down to $67 on amazon so far. Might be worth ordering to lock in the low price guarantee. I have a feeling it may drop lower too before release day:

Amazon product ASIN B08Z2TG6V7
Doug @Ethos99 also has a very good price for Paladin Buyers Club members over in the Members Only Section and packs like a m/f. fyi

Does anyone know what the cheapest place to order Kenny Dorham's Matador is?
Seems to be pretty much the same price everywhere I’ve seen. I ordered from elusive disc I think. If I see it cheaper will let you know. Don’t think PBC could get it and Impex has fairly limited distribution as far as I know.

Edit: it was $45.82 shipped for me if that helps. ED doesn’t seem to charge sales tax.

Same Matador price as everywhere else, but The In Groove still has free shipping $49 and up including pre-orders, as long as you’re willing to wait for the last pre-ordered item to come in for the single shipment. Matador is available there. Of course, you’d need to spend another $10 to get free shipping, but maybe they have something else you want. I can’t remember whether accessories count towards the $49.

Not sure about the US, but for the UK folk at least I would try JPC. I pre-ordered a copy from JPC last night, much cheaper than anywhere else. Works out at about £35, most others are charging £50 -£60 (which is outrageous)

Glowing Fremer review of AS Trane Crescent

My Only Desire has dropped the price for their last few copies of Dave Gold's "Heaven On Their Minds" to a crazy cheap £5 plus postage.

I have their Graham Collier release and its great, I also put an order in for the Mike Westbrook which looks great. I would love the Harry Beckett but its long gone. They only press 500 copies of each on vinyl.

I have all of these except the Harry Becket. If you see a copy at a reasonable price ping me ;)

It might not be for everyone but I do love the Mike Westbrook. I would want to pick up a copy of the original at a decent price bu have a suspicion the my only desire release will be better.

The cover on the original has a picture of a grey tower block in Leeds that used to be part of the Leeds Polytechnic / Met University (Where I studied). The story goes that Mike used to visit the building to see his girlfriend (later wife) and found a completely unused room that had a piano in it. He composed the entire album in that room, which was a commission from a Swedish Jazz (radio?) company.

That's Mike looking out of the window

If you missed the Craft RSD limited pressing of Quiet Kenny the OJC pressing seems like a good option, is in stock as AS, and a good order filler at the price.
sold out! i have the mono and it's excellent. i may still buy the AP one though when its out....

speaking of the AP reissues...they have really slowed down/maybe stopped with the ones they currently had jackets for. i don't entirely mind because it helps the wallet, but i do wonder when the next ones will be released!

Amazing, I’ve been listening to more Mike Westbrook than anyone lately and his chapter in Ian Carr’s book was great. I never knew about the photo though, that’s fantastic!

Update on the wrong version of Pastel Blues sent by Jazz Center Stage (an official Verve label store).

They sent me the Back in black version hoping I wouldn't notice the difference, and after contacting CS, they offered me $15 in store credit, or if I wanted to return the record I could receive a full refund. I opted for the latter and sent it back. No refund in sight. Then this morning I received.....the exact same record! So I write to their CS, and it's like talking to a robot: "Just send the record back and you'll get a redund! Just keep sending it back!" I've sent them 5 messages today and its like talking to a brick wall. I'll be filing a chargeback with my credit card company.

Don't fucking shop at Jazz Center Stage.
