I’m looking for the miles Davis quintet stuff…. Anyone get the craft one step and able to comment on it?
Yeah I have the Craft 'Relaxin'' one step. Really good, clear pressing, no issues on my copy.I’m looking for the miles Davis quintet stuff…. Anyone get the craft one step and able to comment on it?
I’ve got plenty of miles! Just want to get the albums you mentioned on vinyl finallyYeah I have the Craft 'Relaxin'' one step. Really good, clear pressing, no issues on my copy.
I would definitely recommend it but if this is your first venture into the albums from his 'first great quintet' then there are arguably better ones to look out for. I see Relaxin' as part of series (Workin', Relaxin', Cookin', and Steamin') which is better listened to as a whole in my opinion.
Sweet. Yeah, the Craft One Step is really good. I kind of wish they gave all 4 the same treatment and released it as a single box.I’ve got plenty of miles! Just want to get the albums you mentioned on vinyl finally

I have the one step and agree with @Selaws —it’s excellent. But the AP should also be back in print at some point for cheaper. I Can’t remember off the top of my head but think all of the prestige sessions except Workin are part of the AP prestige reissue series. Recently got a mono Japanese press of Workin which is solid. Mine seems to be on some kind quiex vinyl (partially see-through).That would be sweet. The craft legendary prestige set looks interesting too…
This sounds interesting! Is there a bandcamp link or something?View attachment 156670
“Kofi Flexxx is a new ensemble conducted by myself which performs ‘Classical music’ minus class based ideological frameworks which underlie so many ideas of legitimacy, musicality and connection to (often imaginary) racialised lineages.
The only self imposed parameter is that the music affects the spirit and makes you want to move your ass. We call it ASSICAL MUSIC!”

She is AMAZING live. Such a captivating musician. Fingers crossed for you!Just received word from a reliable source that Nubya Garcia will be playing my local JazzFest next summer and I am damn stoked by this prospect!
I also have the craft prestige set but I hate the packaging (no album covers or sleeves really…it’s in a large book accordion format). And they aren’t sequenced as they are on the albums. From what I recall it sounds awesome though.

Yes, there's a 20-page booklet sewn into the binding at the front of the package. Some photos of it are posted with the discogs listing:I think that looks really cool. Why don't you like it?
I didn't know this set existed. The fact that its sequenced as per the sessions also makes it quite intriguing. Was there a booklet as well?
It’s annoying to take the records in and out of. I have a thing with records with annoying packaging that I end up barely listening to the albums. It’s too cumbersome to try to hold and take records out of but I don’t have a coffee table or anything to rest it on. I like having album art, which this has none of. And I like listening to albums in the proper track order. So while it’s well done, there are a lot of strikes against it for me. I think there’s a similar Coltrane set.I think that looks really cool. Any thoughts on this comp?
