So a while back I ordered Bobby Hutcherson - Montara and Big John Patton - Oh Baby! from amazon for £10 each (crazy cheap deal) and while the Big John Patton arrived fine, they delivered the wrong record in place of the Bobby Hutcherson. After chatting with their CS they re-shipped the correct record (going to take 3 weeks to get to me for some reason) but set up a return on the incorrect package. It was to be picked up from my apartment by Hermes and they said they will attempt to pick up the package 3 times (3 consecutive days).

They didn't attempt to pick it up once and now im wondering what to do. Shall I just leave it and assume amazon will ignore it, or will they take the money out of my account when it hits the 'Return by' date? I could, of course, contact CS again but it was so much hassle to contact them the first time, re-package the incorrect record, print the label (I dont have a printer at home), and have someone at the apartment that can pass it over to Hermes.

Any ideas?

If they sent you the wrong item they should let you keep it, just get back in touch through the contact us bit, through more Help you can call, chat or email them, I choose chat and just say they fucked up and nobody came to pick it up and could they make sure you don’t get charged for it, they

should sort it out.

Sadly from the track list is appears that there are multiple takes on 2 of the tracks (5 of the 9 songs listed I think). While I like listening to alternate takes, it tends to be a very specialized listening experience.

This is the reason I regretted buying the deluxe 2xLP version of Coltrane's Both Directions At Once. The 2nd LP of bonus tracks is just like 3-4 takes of the same song. That one is on me for not reading the tracklist before buying.:ROFLMAO:

The crazy thing to me is how many modern record collectors will end up having this in their collection as their "Coltrane record", but not Crescent.

Really though, Is one Coltrane record enough? Considering how record collectors are I'm sure they will get to the point where they have 10 different copies of A Love Supreme.

Of course not. I have 12 Coltrane albums on vinyl plus more on CD. I guess I meant more that a lot of new collectors, particularly the UO crowd, will get this new "lost" albums vs. a Top 5* Coltrane album like Crescent.

* = My Top 5, yours may vary.

If a person can't recognize the genius of Trane in one album enough to be motivated to get more, than they can slowly disintegrate into the dust of irrelevance.

I have a handful of Coltrane records, but somehow Crescent was one of those that is maybe a little underhyped so I haven’t given it the listen it deserves. Your post has definitely encouraged me to really explore it.

Hi All...long time lurker here and finally finding my way into jazz after a long struggle. If this is the wrong thread, I apologize. I just finished listening to Donald Byrd's "Street Lady" and loved every bit of it. I am really into funk/soul and have been looking for that "in-between" with jazz on the other end. Does anyone have any recommendations from here? Jazz is so damn deep that its overwhelming and "similar artists" isnt really fitting in jazz seeing how artists evolve so much over time within the genre. Any input is appreciated!

I think Herbie Hancock’s Head Hunters album fits into that jazz-funk fusion you may be interested in.
