The comet is coming, I'm thinking it'll probably get a proper release next year, so I might leave it.

The Miles Davis & Herbie Hancock I'm going to leave because they're on Get on Down. I bought the Herbie Hancock on get on down last record store day and it's an awful pressing, unlistenable. For that sort of money I want to trust in a good pressing.

I'm going to have to pass on Thad Jones, if it was £40 I'd jump on it.

I'm definitely interested in the Chet Baker, but have to say I've not listened to any of his albums yet, that could be a new rabbit hole if I really like it. I'm going to have stream it.

Yeah I realised earlier today that I got my dates mixed up, I thought the black friday was this friday. It is the Blue Note event this friday though so I will go to that :ROFLMAO:

Wow this is exciting! I always thought they should do something similar with John Peels collection. They had a few DJ's dig around a few years ago to find some bits to sample and released a 7" out of it. Heres a video, well worth watching.

Yeah, Miles In Tokyo should not be too hard to find on a Japanese press and would sound a shitload better I'd think , not sure why that are releasing it as a 2 LP though, unless there is extra tracks ??

2) my local (Newbury) sells the RSD releases for ~10-20% higher than the MSRP... and while I've but the bullet the past few years (because, let's face it, I have a problem...) it really sticks in my craw and sours me a bit on the whole thing

That said... I'll still see what is left Saturday or will most likely be in of the hordes crashing plaidroom's site, but I've come to peace with it and am trying to reject the fomo... But.... Live in Tokyo 😍....c'mon.... Sigh, I have issues

Ow! Live At The Penthouse - Johnny Griffin - Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis Quintet (RSD pricing at its finest...£55 for this 2lp set. Unreleased but surely not worth that kind of money IMO)

Are you guys after anything specific? My main aims are The Comet Is Coming, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans (still kicking myself for missing the Live In England). Im intrigued by the 2 Miles as well, especially the Tokyo, but if I want to eat this month I will have to be VERY selective.

Bill Evans or bust. I was fortunate enough to land a copy of Evans In England last year and, while not the best live Evans recording I’ve heard, I’m happy to have it in the collection.

On a side note, for a The Comet Is Coming novice like myself, do you gents recommend Channel or Trust as a first vinyl dip?

Ah nice, im jealous of that one for sure.

Hard to say as they are both really good. I think because 'Trust In The Lifeforce Of The Deep Mystery' is their latest its also their most developed album. I have played both in my flat on numerous occasions, and seen them live and the songs on Trust are the ones that my girlfriend recognises most when I hum them. I've even caught her humming Trust tracks and it takes her a few minutes to realise where shes heard it. I take that to mean they are more catchy :ROFLMAO:

Looking forward to seeing where this label goes. Here’s hoping they’ll locate and use proper source materials over needle drops.

Oh man that Hancock! that's really all I want. probably going to have to pay flipper pricing though since there's no way I'm getting to the record store on black friday with a toddler and a 3monthold.

Based on the story behind the record (which I also enjoy, kind of like a provenance for a painting), it sounds like Gilles connected with another musician who knew Contreras and the three of them met up. Hopefully he's got his own tapes!

If you are into world music, mostly African and a bit of South America, it's worth the price. Ballaké Sissoko & Vincent Segal albums are some of the most beautiful "Afropean" music made in the last ten years. You also have the first volume of Gonzales' Solo Piano serie.
