Day 12: Rain

While it seems to rain a lot in Oregon, we actually need more or this will be another really dry summer.

One thing I do miss about living in the midwest are thunderstorms - they happen here so infrequently people get a little odd when they hear thunder.

Dean Wareham (from Galaxie 500 & Luna) and Britta Phillips (from Luna, Dean's wife).
Cool vocals over gauzy, dreamy rock. Sort of like a fancier Lee Hazelwood. This their second album (and, IMO, their best) from 2007 produced by Tony Visconti, first vinyl pressing by Wouldn't Waste Records from Denmark. This is a signed copy I got from Dean's site.

The Jayhawks - Back Roads and Abandoned Motels

My first thought was their album Rainy Day Music, which I totally love but don't have on vinyl. So I'll go with this one. The Jayhawks have that certain sound that I have trouble describing. Melancholic and pretty, with a bit of 70s nostalgia reminiscent of America and Seals and Crofts.

@Kris are you a fan?
