Day 10: Milwaukee Bucks

Play an album from an artist from Wisconsin

Timbuk3 - Greetings From Timbuk3

Madison Wisconsin’s Tibuk3 is a one-hit-wonder band and while “The Future So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades” is an excellent song their debut album is pretty stellar all the way through.

Prior to Giannis arrival, my favorite Buck was Glenn “Big Dog” Robinson. He never fully lived up to the lofty expectations that were hoisted upon him as the overall number one pick in 1994 but he still manage to put together a very solid decade long NBA career.

I saw Timbuk 3 live a few times in days of yore. Always fun.

A personal favorite...

Day 12: Charlotte Hornets

Play an album from an artist from North Carolina

The Brief Encounter - The Brief Encounter

Tar Heel @RoxCity gifted me a couple of records (along with some excellent toffee) from his home state for last years Secret Santa. I was completely unfamiliar with The Brief Encounter prior to his introduction and they are the perfect mix of soulful R&B and Funk.

Those Charlotte Hornets teams of the early 90s were some of my all time favorites, Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, Muggsy Bougues, Dell Curry, Kendall Gill. Combine that roster with those Teal jerseys (teal was the color of the 90s but the Hornets were early adopters) and the cartoon hornet logo, what’s was not to love. Too bad they never could put it all together in way to live up to their potential.

Day 13: Miami Heat

Play an album from an artist from Miami South Florida

Surfer Blood - Astro Coast

Unfortunately I recently unloaded my only Rick Ross album meaning the closest I can get to South Beach is West Palm’s Surfer Blood. The wax is Heat colored at least.

The Pre-Pat Reilly Heat was god awful. But don’t take my word for it check out this lackluster NBA Jam pairing.

That being said, if anybody knows where I could pick up a size 48 Champions replica Rony Seikaly jersey please DM me.

Baby Jordan! I'm sure there were worse NBA Jam lineups.

I miss this game so much. They had the arcade version at my local comic shop when it came out and my buddy and I would collect pop cans to get enough money to go play!

Day 13 Miami Heat

Derek & The Dominos Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs

Okay, bear with me on this one. Whatever other achievements or activities this band got up to, they would be nothing but a footnote if not for this, their one studio album. And that studio where the album was created was in Miami, so as far as I'm concerned (at least for the purposes of this Vinyl Spin Challenge), they are a Miami band. Anything they did outside of Miami is irrelevant. AND, part-time member and contributor to the album Duane Allman was a Floridian.

And some of the songs do get you moving ("Keep On Growing" and "Why Does Love Have To Be So Sad" especially).

I have found that my record collection just does not have much in it from Florida-based musicians.
