Sam was born and raised in the Carolina’s but didn’t come into musical prominence until, while Sam was teaching cinematography at The University of Miami; Ben Bidwell passed along a copy of his demo to Sub Pop. So his musical career took off while he was a resident of the Sunshine State.

Growing up a Bulls fan the team that scared me the most, as the club that could unseat them as the kings of Eastern Conference; was the Orlando Magic. They were loaded, Shaq, Penny, Former Bull Horrace Grant, Nick Anderson, Derek Scott, Scott Skiles. A seriously great team. They were the one team that actually beat a Jordan led Bull team in a playoff series since they had started their run. I still remember Nick Anderson swiping the ball from a #45 clad Jordan in the waning moments of game 6 to seal the series. Thankfully The Bulls would right the ship and regain their dominance while the Magic would fall apart.

Day 15: Washington Wizards
Play an album from an artist from the DMV (DC, Maryland, or Virginia) or an album featuring a "wizard" production to it.

While he never played for The Wiz, Walt "The Wizard" Williams was born in DC and went to Maryland.

DC band.

A name like Dr. Know immediately reeks of wizardry.

Unbeknownst to many, this slamming record was produced by new wave wizard Ric Ocasek.

Turn it up...

Day 13: Miami Heat
Play an album from an artist from Miami or an album that you can burn up the dance floor to.

Since I used this same album for an Adoption Day theme last year, I may as well use it again...even though Deborah Harry was still pretty young when she was adopted to a family in New Jersey.

This compilation also has the dance remix of "Heart Of Glass"...so I think some people burned up the dance floor to this one.

From Jacksonville, Florida...

3 days after the release of this album was the plane crash that killed 3 members of the band. It also prompted a change of artwork to the album to a group photo with out flames around them.

Our good Uncle beat me to Bad Brains so I decided to go with one of DC Punks other defining bands.

The Bullets/Wizards have been a franchise that hasn’t seen much success over my lifetime. Most Pro Sports franchises, even when they’re ran poorly have stretches where their fans can be hopeful. The Hornets and Magic haven’t any NBA titles in my lifetime (or ever) either but at least they have given it a good shot. Outside that Wiz run a few years back when they had both Wall and Beals, Wiz fans haven’t had too much to get excited for. The only other time I can remember thinking they might be turning a corner was when they traded for one of my All time favorite players Chris Webber to pair with his Fab 5 teammate Juwan Howard, other than that, maybe MJ’s 2nd unretirement and drafting of Kwame Brown were mini blips of hope for an otherwise shitshow of a franchise.
