Day 3 - Childhood

Culture Club - Colour By Numbers

During my very early childhood, most of the music I was exposed to was a lot of stuff my dad listened to, which was mostly early 70s AM pop/soft rock (a lot of it from this compilation CD, none of which I have on vinyl) along with some Bryan Adams & Culture Club. “Karma Chameleon” in particular I remember hearing a lot when I was a kid, so I borrowed my dad’s copy of “Colour By Numbers” to play in today’s challenge!

Day 3: Childhood
Billy Joel - The Stranger

As a kid growing up in Long Island of course I was exposed to Billy Joel at an early age. "We Didn't Start The Fire" was one of the first popular songs I remember listening to regularly. And the songs from The Stranger were on regular rotation growing up with my family.

Day 3: when we were young

when I was in the first grade For Christmas I got my first record player. It was portable denim covered deal that came from sears. I’d find a picture but I’m beat.

I got three forty fives with it that I think are in my parents attic. Beatles - Lady Madonna/Inner Light & Hey Jude/Revolution and Kiss-Detroit Rock City/Beth.

we also had a tape Twenty Hits that was a car singalong staple.

The Beatles - Mono Masters

Day 3 - Childhood

This is among my earliest memories of music, by an artist my mom loved and played a lot around the house. There was also plenty of Neil Diamond, Barbara Streisand and Linda Ronstadt and more....but I always seemed to like the Carly Simon records best. This her copy too, from the 70s, with the Kmart sticker still affixed.

Day Three - Childhood

There's so much music to pick from.. However this was my Aunts favourite album, and we listened to her CD of it over a thousand times in all my visits to her house :) only brings good memories!

Day 2: Etched

Not sure why the reissue of this has been delayed for so long.

While still being considered an "etched side", this one looks to be from something like a silkscreening process.

Gene Autry ~ back in the saddle again

IMG_20200603_215117.jpg

As a kid my grandpa would watch over me while my parents worked. He was a huge fan of Gene Autry, and as a kid he would sing all his songs to me, back in the saddle, you are my sunshine, he made sure to throw in a froggy voice here, and always ended with a nice yodel. While I may not be a huge fan of country music, Gene will always have a special part in my heart.

Day 3: Childhood.

Christmas 1984 - This was the first pre-recorded album I owned. My brother and I got a cassette stereo for Christmas and I got this one, he got Thriller. The real cassette is still probably at my mom's house.

Jazzanova "The pool"

This is a project of some Berlin DJs. The music is a great mix of Neo-Soul, Jazz and some pop elements. The album features a diversity of guest vocalists such as Jamie Cullum, Ben Westbeech, Pete Josef, Rachel Sermanni, Olivier St. Louis, Paul Randolph or Charlotte OC.

So as a brummie born and bred ..this band needs no hype..invented a genre all by themselves ..not bad for four blokes from Aston...so pleased I got to see them on the final tour ..so ladies and gents from Birmingham, England .....

Black Sabbath “Vol.4” 1972

This is an original Vertigo pressing without the Made in England credit ..which apparently is more valuable ..I brought this as an 11 year old from a market stall in 1982 ..good buy. And some bonus pics of me on the Black Sabbath bench in Birmingham and the recent exhibition.094BC867-F7EB-46A9-B285-F3AC47754645.jpegC6CBD28A-8D00-4C10-827C-1805A9931539.jpeg35D37B3D-44F6-4EC5-9A91-4160BE343B4C.jpeg5517A65A-900F-4913-B94F-8DA9971BD720.jpeg7BC49F8A-D10F-47CE-BD4F-6CFCE91B39C9.jpeg

So many to choose from coming out of IL, I've lived her most of my life and have seen all of them at one point or another. But we're going to go with this little band formed in 1993 out of Chicago :)
