And he was high as a kite for most of it.

Day 16: Begin Again

I really thought this would’ve been swiped by the time I got home…

Carole King - Tapestry

James Taylor plays acoustic guitar on “So Far Away”, “Home Again”, “Way Over Yonder”, “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” and “You’ve Got a Friend”, the last of which he also recorded around that same time and his version became his biggest hit.
Roberta & Donny’s version is the best tho

Adele - 25

No other album release in my lifetime felt as massive as this one’s did. From the first teaser of the lead single it felt like this album was a behemoth that everyone was preparing for. I don’t think I will enjoy an album hype cycle as much as this ones

13 – The Lucky One
Play an album that had (either for you or others) substantial anticipation prior to its release.

my bloody valentine - m b v

In 2013 I was deep in the bowels of the school library studying every minute I was awake when there was word that My Bloody Valentine’s new album was done. I preordered the album within a second (wincing only briefly at the $10 overseas postage, ah those were the days) and it came with the immediate download and suddenly I was done with studying for the day.

14 – Everything Has Changed
Play an “new to you” discovery from 2022.

Pond - Rock Collection

This is more of a “rediscovery.” I remember liking this album in high school but forgot about it until it was pressed this year. And holy god, I love this record now, I declare it a masterpiece. Everyone needs to listen to it from start to finish at least once, playing as loud as you can through your headphones. We should be bringing this band up whenever we talk about the best Pacific Northwest records of the late 1990s.

Cage the Elephant - Cage the Elephant

When I was younger I was one of those people who thought they were born in the wrong generation, that no good music had been made since John Lennon was shot. My music taste was contained only to the CDs my dad owned and I had no desire to listen to anything current. Then I heard this album and everything changed. I know it’s kind of a silly album to be the awakening for me but it truly blew my mind and sent me on a nonstop search for more great music! If it wasnt for this album I wouldn’t be on this forum today (and I’d probably have a lot more money since I wouldn’t be spending it all on records lol)

Oh man, so I remember when this was announced and thinking I would preorder it off Indiegogo later and, well I plum forgot. Thanks for the reminder. So I just spent a solid 20 minutes scouring the internet to see if I could find a copy for sale at a reasonable price; looks like they had some on sale via Latent Print Records store but had since sold out; but wouldn’t ya know I was able to find a copy for $35 on the Discogs marketplace of all places. I am always surprised when someone isn’t price gouging on a limited album like this. $10 over retail is probably fine all things considered.

Shoot! They’re not for sale anymore because there was a defect so they’re waiting for the represses now. Sorry I didn’t catch you before you bought that!

Alright I was reading comment replies on Discogs, initially I just read the main post; it sounds like Side B was pressed badly off center causing an audible flutter.

I went ahead and messenged the seller and requested a cancellation/refund.

@Wes C. Attle if you end up with a repress lemme know so I can try to track down a non-defective copy.

Day 15 - Starlight

Vaughn Meader - The First Family

Going with a comedy album! Meader impersonates JFK and pokes fun at the idea of “Camelot” and the politics of the era. The album was a HUGE hit and JFK himself took it in stride. The night JFK was assassinated; Comedian Lenny Bruce famously opened his show by saying “Boy, is Vaughn Meader fucked”, which was all to accurate because Meader never found success again afterwards

09 – Stay Stay Stay - Cutesy as heck and definitely a bit of a daydream about one of those ideal relationships, which after like the last eight tracks is a nice change.

Play a palette cleanser (the music you go to when you just need to take away all the emotions of the world)

I can't not go with this one...

801 – 801 Live
Polydor – MPF 1101, 1977

Japanese Pressing

10 – The Last Time – At this point, this was a rarity in the Swift catalog – a true duet. I think it’s her first male-female collaboration on a mainline Swift album (she did have some features elsewhere) and man does it have a lot of Gary Lightbody on it.

Play an album featuring vocalists of at least two genders

I suppose I'm going with this one, as I don't sell or trade or PIF all that often enough to warrant setting anything aside.

This is one I buy if I see it...(I currently have 3 copies - 2 of this specific pressing, and a non-gatefold reissue) it's probably one of the best sounding / recorded albums I've heard, so finding one that is perfect is worth the hunt - and that elusive RL cut...which I haven't seen yet.

Buckingham Nicks – Buckingham Nicks
Polydor – PD 5058, 1973

Cut at Sterling
Pressed at Monarch

17 – The Moment I Knew- Now we’re into the Deluxe cuts. This is the first track once you get past the standard edition and it does make sense to why it was cut originally given it’s a bit reminiscent of a portion of All Too Well.
Play a Deluxe or Expanded Album

GoRiLLaZ SONG MACHINE SEASON 1
(2020 Parlophone, deluxe edition)
Great selection of guests on this, only made better with more songs and more guests on the deluxe edition. Robert Smith, Beck, St-Vincent, Elton John, Schoolboy Q, Georgia & Peter Hook, Tony Allen, Slowthai, GoldLink, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Chai, JPEGMAFIA.... fuck yeah! And my favorite track sung by Leee John, an artist I didn't even know before this.

11 – Holy Ground – Time heals all wounds right? This one is about looking through the bad in the past to recognize the good that was and getting a bit of healing from it, so…

Play an album that someone else introduced you to (even if you don’t talk to them anymore)

I want to say it was @Enaz Fox on the previous forum that introduced me to this band (and label). (it's possible I'm misremembering, and if I am I apologize.)

Hyborian – Vol. I
The Company – THECO-003, 2017

Blue/Black Merge "Aqueous Nebula Edition" limited to 100

Pressed at GZ
