This felt like such an odd choice for the expanded album as it’s so distinctly not a song like most of the others. It’s not about a romance, it’s not about resentment – it’s about fear and panic in many ways. It may be a bit on the simplistic/basic side for the material, but a mental health awareness / friendship song is an interesting turn on this album.

This album is full of ruminations on Wayne's childhood/early adulthood, and how experiences shaped him and others, and the lasting impact of those experiences.

Björk - Vespertine

My #5 all time. The music unfurls like a rolodex of memories in a wintery, snowy terrain. It was the second Björk record that I listened in full (after Post) and it remains my favorite all these years later. It remains a big influence in shaping a substantial portion of my tastes to the present day.
 
26 – I Bet You Think About Me

This one was penned near my neck of the woods in Foxborough, Massachusetts at Lori McKenna’s house and she grabbed Chris Stapleton to feature on it. Two fantastic names. It also had that great little bitter vibe in it that a lot of the great Taylor songs do. Play an album that has elements of scorn or resentment flowing through it

23 – Nothing New – Featuring Phoebe Bridgers like everything else in 2021 right? To Taylor’s credit, unlike nearly every other feature, Phoebe actually got to say words on this one. Also, it was inspired by Joni Mitchell’s A Case of You, and a song can only be so bad if it’s citing Joni Mitchell

24 – Babe – Like Better Man, this is another one she wrote, shelved, and then gave to another country artist to deliver (Sugarland in this case). She also wrote this with the lead singer of Train.

Play an album that was initially released in the CD Era (you know, where Train belongs, let’s say 1990-2010), and yes I know there’s CD diehards here.

Burial - Untrue

From the tail end of the era (2007), but an album that was incomplete in its first vinyl incarnations.

25 – Message in a Bottle – When I first heard this song it felt like the kind of song you put in a cheesy feel-good movie scene. Other reviewers were reminded of Carly Rae Jepsen which, well, don’t we all wish we could be Carly?

Nina is someone I find myself gravitating to more when it’s cold and dreary outside.

To me, Pastel Blues is the definition of Essential. Great pick!

I have six Dexter titles, and I don't spin much jazz nowadays anyways (outside of my collection playthrough requirements).

I'm pretty sure I have all of the JI400/Solo albums at this point and the live ones and Southeastern get more play than this one.

Not sure why, I don't know if the louder songs on it are his best but the more focused/pared down selection is prime stuff.

Ed: Side 2 of this is really a gem. Never really got into Molotov til now but what a great tune.

Could’ve went with any Ramones album, really. And there’s more than a few Ramones songs on my running playlist.

Two-fer. A bunch of tracks on here would be good for a running playlist. That being said, there isn't much about this album that I ever reasonated with besides a few tracks. And Johnny Guitar just might be the worst song that PJ has ever recorded IMO, it annoys me that I have to listen to it again.

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Confrontation

My parents got me their “Complete Island Recordings” boxset for Christmas back in 2015. It was steady in my rotation that first year, but my growing collection and the fact that reggae isn’t really my favourite genre had me putting this box to the wayside. “Confrontation”, being the posthumous album, definitely has the least amount of plays of all the albums in that box.

The box still gets play every once in a blue moon tho (especially for challenges, it’s the second time I’ve dug into it this month alone), and upon re-listening, “Confrontation” is a pretty good album.

Laura Mvula – The Dreaming Room

Truth be told, I can't stand Sting - so playing something "in honor" of him seems weird, but I do like many English artists and Laura Mvula is one I haven't listened to in a while, so here we go!
