January 19: Keith Richards

Marianne Faithfull "Broken English"
(1979 Island; 2019 reissue)
The Stones wrote Marianne Faithfull's first hit which helped catapult her career during the late 60's. During the early 70's, she then moved with Brian's family with her son and then dated Mick for a while. She also wrote the lyrics to "Sister Morphine" during this period. She probably can't be accused of anything she hasn't confessed to either, but I wouldn't know that for sure.

Let's keep the reggae train rolling with this baby which was released on Rolling Stones Records, features a duet with Mick Jagger and, most importantly, features Keef playing guitar on half of Side B alongside Sly & Robbie rocking the riddim section!

Ron Wood - I’ve Go My Own Album To Do

It pays to have talented friends. In the small window between The Faces disbanding and Wood joining The Rolling Stones he released an excellent solo album. The album was recorded with the help of fellow rockers and friends George Harrison, Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards. The following video is a killer instrumental jam that closes out the album called “Crotch Music” which feature Keith and Ronnie absolutely shredding.

Elvis Presley
, often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll," rose to fame in the mid-20th century and became a cultural icon. Born in 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis's distinctive blend of rock, blues, and country music revolutionized the music industry. His energetic performances, charismatic stage presence, and unique vocal style set him apart. Elvis's breakthrough came with hits like "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Hound Dog," which not only topped charts but also ignited a fervor among fans.

Elvis's influence extended beyond music; he became a symbol of rebellion and youth culture. His impact on the entertainment industry, from music to film, is immeasurable. Despite facing challenges in his personal life, Elvis's legacy endures through his timeless music and the enduring image of the hip-shaking, leather-clad performer who forever changed the landscape of popular music. Even decades after his death in 1977, Elvis Presley remains an immortal figure, celebrated for his contributions to the evolution of rock and roll and his lasting influence on subsequent generations of musicians.

Elvis was a polarizing figure when he first hit the scene. Spin something by Elvis, or another artist who completely shocked the music world upon their arrival.
