Yep, 4 days there and then off to the East Coast / Cape Cod to visit family for a few weeks. I can post Lobster Roll pictures if there is enough demand!

Joe Walsh - "But Seriously, Folks..." Despite being a member of The Eagles I think The Dude might’ve dug some of Joe Walsh’s solo and pre-Eagles stuff.

Terry Riley - A Rainbow In Curved Air
Per Wikipedia;
“A Rainbow in Curved Air was the first recording at CBS to utilize an eight-track recorder. The largely improvisational nature of the work, based on modal scales, owes much to Riley's background in jazz improvisations and interest in Hindustani classical music. Jazz pianist Bill Evans, one of Riley's piano "heroes", had utilized overdubbing on his classic album Conversations with Myself from four years earlier. Riley would intensify this overdubbing approach with added instrumentation.
Using overdubbing, Riley plays all the instruments on the title track: electric organ, 2 electric harpsichords (a Baldwin electric harpsichord & a RMI Rock-Si-Chord), dumbec, and tambourine. The piece moves through several sections; following the opening theme and introduction of "placid chords," Riley introduces "an explosion, a procession of right-hand lines that flutter and pirouette over the over the pulsing rhythmic patterns."The calmer second half of the recording features shorter, high-register keyboard lines which syncopate with the music's modal base.”

Haken "Fauna" (2023 Inside Out Music)
The prompt gives me a chance to spin this acquisition from last week. The music is progressive so there is quite a bit of complexity. As a bonus, that's me on the cover.

Pink Floyd - Animals Per Wikipedia:
“Loosely based on George Orwell's political fable Animal Farm, the album's lyrics describe various classes in society as different kinds of animals: the predatory dogs, the despotic ruthless pigs, and the "mindless and unquestioning” herd of sheep. Whereas the novella focuses on Stalinism, the album is a critique of capitalism and differs again in that the sheep eventually rise up to overpower the dogs. The album was developed from a collection of unrelated songs into a concept which, in the words of author Glenn Povey, "described the apparent social and moral decay of society, likening the human condition to that of mere animals".”
