Stevie Wonder "Innervisions" (1973 Tamla Motown; 1977 japanese reissue)
Stevie is pretty much a one man band on most of this record and it's brilliant both musically and lyrically from front to back. And you could say "Higher Ground" ties the album together really nicely.

Moondog - Moondog
I think Moondog AKA The Viking of 6th Ave. woulda vibed well with The Dude. Moondog was a blind street perform in New York City in the 50 and 60s who would recite poetry and perform music dressed as a Viking. This was one of his classical compositions from1969 was recorded with a 50 piece orchestra and included several musical instruments that he invented.

Wish I had seen this before today. Lebowski is a big deal for me. Not only do I take part in an annual Lebowski fest (dress as characters, band plays the movie soundtrack, drink specials), but I used to have a band called Separate Incidents (after the police scene where he is discussing the theft of his car and rug).
