March 8: International Women's Day - We love women, play something that is from a woman, or from women, or is about a woman, or is about women....women.

Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

Lauryn did so much to advance women in hip-hop, and women I'm general. Plus I'm listening to the Dissect season on this album so it's another excuse to play it haha

I asked my daughter to choose for today and she didn’t hesitate to give her pick. We used to dance to this one a lot

Pretty Lights - A Color Map of the Sun

The details of the making of this album are incredible and there's a 26 minute video on youtube detailing the making of A Color Map of the Sun which is 100% worth your time. Pretty Lights would always go crate digging and sample from vinyl for his music. For this album he worked with world-class session musicians to record music he composed to vinyl, and then sampled that. It's truly incredible and I've never heard of anyone else doing anything like it. It's really cool to watch the video and see him working with these musicians and then listen to the album and see what he did what that sound.

Glad that @LeSamourai chose this for soundtrack day, so I could play it today. Strong memories associated with this soundtrack - in 2010 before the movie came out, Disney put together an amazing offsite exhibit for it at San Diego Comic Con, which is where I think the music first premiered. You started off by going into Flynn's arcade and playing retro video games, then the Tron machine would open and you'd walk back to the End of Line Club. Definitely a strong memory that my kids and I have together.

LCD Soundsystem "Electric Lady Sessions" (2019 DFA Records)

Daft Punk is not playing at my house, but this record is. The live in-studio recording of "American Dream" is soooo good on this.

Four Tet - Rounds

I already played some DP this month, so today I'll spin one of my favorite albums by one of my favorite producers of electronic music.

It's definitely more electropop but outside of Daft Punk it was my first real exposure to electronic music that I had a real fondness too and I did a deep dive on. I am really jonesing for their 4th at this point...
