I just learned a half hour ago that Portuguese people aren’t Spanish lol.I have like 20 things I could pick if it was Portuguese. Spanish is a lot tougher.
Only drunken Americans (this includes myself) celebrate Cinco De Mayo anyhow...I just learned a half hour ago that Portuguese people aren’t Spanish lol.

Though I would say I have a fairly decent collection of “World” music I am completely lacking in Mexican music of either a traditional or contemporary bent. With that in mind I went with an album by an American of Puerto Rican decent who I feel fairly safe in assuming at least spoke Spanish. I know many people were disappointed when VMP chose this album as a Classics pick but I love it. It’s fun funky high energy jazz. Charmingly celebratory music and what is Cinco De Mayo if not and excuse party a bit.
What good is being a cultural “melting pot” if we can’t co-op different ethnic holidays as an excuse to get drunk on a week night? Oktoberfest, St Patrick’s Day, Cinco De Mayo... TBH I think we need to add more to the calendar.lets not even get started on Paddy’s day...
I had a friend that went to Ireland for St Paddy’s Day thinking it’s would be the party to end all parties. He came home pretty disappointed.lets not even get started on Paddy’s day...

Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass - Whipped Cream & Other Delights
Taking this one before anyone else does haha Don't have many options in my collection, but this has a song titled 'El Garbanzo' so it counts.
Day 5: Cinco de mayo - play a Spanish-speaking artist
Mint Field - Pasar de las luces
This is the debut album by Baja Californian duo Mint Field. Granted, you may not even notice that the lyrics are in Spanish, because the album weds slow, hazy shoegaze with ethereal vocals reminiscent of dream pop like the Cocteau Twins. With songs like "Quiero otoño de nuevo" (I Want Autumn Back), this is perfect music for days spent indoors.

I love the album, and the song, but as a Spanish professor I really want to get out the red pen and fix the atrocious Spanish!
