May 2020 Record Challenge Thread (PRIZE RAFFLE AT THE END!)

go for it, I’m not above text that I’ve copied and pasted from a random lyrics site being corrected...

Oh, those lyrics are how they appear in the original lyrics sheet. I just have to smile on this song and "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?" at the creative use of what Strummer called "Clash Spannish," which seems to have a grammar, vocabulary, and syntax all its own.

Day 5: Cinco de Mayo. Play an album by a Spanish speaking artist.

So I get to do this again (looking at you @Joe Mac!) as I was a bit premature yesterday (story of my life ...)

Definitely Spanish on this ...sing it all together ..indie night club classic

Lol, you were so close. You could have picked Crackity Jones, but you went with a French line!

Cinco De Mayo
Well this got here just in time I don’t have much Spanish music otherwise I would have had to post my $ dollar scratched to hell copy of Fat Joe. I dismissed this at first when it was one of the albums of the month, but I started listening to it and it’s really grown on me since. Really fun and catchy.

Not to be that guy but isn’t this Portuguese as opposed to Spanish? I got a good amount of Brazilian music but a fairly limited when it comes to Spanish. Regardless, this album is great, funk AF.
I’m just going to lawyerball this one and Say it was just to play a Spanish speaking artist ,

The google says Portuguese is not the same as Spanish, but most Portuguese will understand Spanish, So I’m gonna go on a limb and say he picked up enough Spanish in his travels to count as a Spanish speaking artist .

At the very least I can say he probably speaks more Spanish then almost all of the artists in my collection.

Well, I don't know if the Portuguese understand the Spanish (I'm talking about the nationals, from Europe) but, I'm from Argentina, my wife is Brazilian and when we go see my relatives in Buenos Aires, she has absolutely NO idea what we are talking about! 😂😂😂
Africa Brasil is absolute fire, though.

I’m a little embarrassed that it took me so long to come up with this record, furthermore, as I’ve been diving into this whole genre (Latin psychedelic funk) and have quite a few records that fit the category as a result... smh. Not only that, but THESE GUYS just released ONE OF MY FAVORITE RECORDS OF THE YEAR!!! I guess it shows that I dig this music and don’t think of it as ethnic or odd or not something I just dearly love.

I'm gonna be honest with ya, when I picked this theme I had quite a few in mind to play then last night I did bare minimum research and realized they were actually all Brazilian so today's theme suddenly became alot harder
I spent a minute looking through my collection going there’s that, nope it’s Brazilian.... nope Brazil... nope Brazil.... I have a lot of Records in Portuguese.

That’s in Portuguese, but great album nonetheless!

Here, I got you covered because I spun two albums that may qualify:

Most songs are in English but the band is 100% Spanish. I had a great time watching them live on a cruise last summer in what seems like a different universe from where we live today.

And this is my alternative pick for today:
