Day 4 - Bombers
Seemed a good idea / To drop a bomb on the wasteland here
Play a record that is considered a bomb but that you love
ROXY MUSIC FLESH + BLOOD (1980 EG Records, Polydor Japan pressing)
Generally regarded as the worst Roxy Music record. I think the choice of opening with a cover of "The Midnight Hour" doesn't help with the flow. Seriously, just deleting that track would elevate the entire album. The LP is filled with bangers like "Oh Yeah", "Same Old Scene" and "Over You", which keep me coming back. Some great deep cuts too, like "My Only Love" and "No Strange Delight". Bryan Ferry is in full suave mode on here. I hear the framework for a lot of Duran Duran's early 80's output in these songs. Anyone paying attention to my posts know I'm a bit of an O.G. Duranie. The recording of this album is fantastic. And one advantage of a record that doesn't have strong acclaim is that it's not hard to get immaculate original pressings.
