May 2022 Vinyl Spin Challenge - A Crash Course for the Ravers

Day 4 - Bombers
Seemed a good idea / To drop a bomb on the wasteland here
Play a record that is considered a bomb but that you love.

It's tough for me to call this a bomb, but after The Invisible Band it didn't get the attention it deserved in the US. It's a damn shame too, cause it's one of their best.

Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique

How do you top a record that sold a bazillion copies? Not with this sample-delic crazy album. A bomb only in that it sold just under 300,000 copies in its first year of release. The worst selling BBoys studio album, and a true classic

I struggled with this day and eventually gave up and just listened to records I wanted to today. I have a good idea what to play for tomorrow, but an album that sold this well is not a bomb except relatively. I mean all the records I have that "bombed" sold a crap ton of records. I have an awful lot of small press records, did they bomb? Not really.... Too bad I don't have a copy of Stankonia on vinyl because it has Bombs Over Baghdad. Lol.

You can always go for the figurative as opposed to the literal. I almost played this one. I would think this is on your shelf......unless you want to crushingly disappoint me and make me rethink the entire integrity of the universe...

Most of my Clash is on CD. Currently, I only have Sandinista on vinyl. I had an OG American of the debut that got destroyed by water damage.

Day 4 - Bombers

I'm going with a release that was a bomb...when it was released, as it only sold 6,000 copies the first year.

PEARL CHARLES MAGIC MIRROR (2021 Kanine Record)
Going literal with todays' challenge. Blue record. This is a great little pop record from 2021. Owes a clear debt to that late-70's pop sound that blends country, rhythms, soulful singing and rock seamlessly - think Fleetwood Mac. It's been a bit of a sleeper hit for me as I keep turning back to it. It has yet to be filed in my storage cubes and has been in my rotation bin for over 6 months now.
