Howl's Moving Castle is my dark horse Top 5 candidate. It's an absolute mess but it's so strange and beautiful that its structural issues kinda fade away. It feels like getting swept up in a dream.

Totoro, Spirited Away, Ponyo.

Ponyo is not a perfect movie. But it’s one of the most gorgeously animated movies I have ever seen. The story is also sweet even though the ending is clunky and rushed.

Gotta shout out Kiki though cause I love that movie too.

Also I haven’t seen Porco Rosso but I will now be doing that very soon.

Endings aren't really Miyazaki's strength as a director.

First Cow rules. Might be Reichardt's best.

Absolutely. Maybe my favorite movie from last year. Had to snag the blu ray.

Soul has some serious competition for the Best Animated Oscar this year. Wolfwalkers on Apple+ is pretty incredible. I highly recommend it if you have young daughters.

I seriously hope Wolfwalkers can pull out a win this year. Cartoon Saloon would absolutely deserve it.

Totoro and Spirited Away are probably my favorites but this one probably rounds out my top 3. It was my first Ghibli, I just caught it on Cartoon Network one afternoon and was enthralled.
