Movies

The wife is a little under the weather and absolutely shitbag tired but refuses to reschedule our date to watch The Batman tonight. She's convinced she'll stay awake for the whole thing, but I'm betting she barely makes it halfway...

Sure enough, she walked away a few minutes shy of the halfway point. In part because she apparently abhors Robert Pattinson and didn't realize he was playing Batman :ROFLMAO: - which I find absolutely hilarious. I don't think he was especially great, but I also didn't think he was -that- terrible. Also, usually I'm the one with the unreasonable disdain toward certain actors or musicians in this house, so it was fascinating to see that play out from the other side!

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. It was definitely long and had some ridiculous bits along the way, but all in all very enjoyable. Paul Danno, John Turturro and Colin Farrel were especially fantastic, and I always absolutely love me some Jeffrey Wright! I would absolutely watch this one again.

John Carpenter’s The Fog: Maybe not his sharpest or most resonant work, but man, it looks great. Carpenter (and Dean Cundey) churn out striking images even as the script strains beneath its own weight.
I remember 10% of that one. Every movie should open with a grizzled old fisherman setting up the movie’s backstory around a campfire.
