Movies

Last night I watched two movies that have been getting mixed reviews: Confess, Fletch and Bullet Train. Look, neither of these are going to win any awards anytime soon but they were both a fun, breezy watch. I'd recommend either if you are looking to turn off your brain and veg out in front of the tv for a couple of hours.
I enjoyed both of these as well. Nothing groundbreaking, but they were both fun romps that I could see me rewatching when I don't want to think to hard on anything.

Jason X (2001)

Well, this was just as cheesy as I remembered it to be. They were really stretching it thin when they came up with this sequel. Essentially the slasher villain, Jason, gets cryogenically frozen only to then be taken on board a spaceship 400 years later, thawed out, then causes chaos on the ship. At one point nanobots regenerate him tissue and fuse it with metal. Completely bonkers.

Well I watched Don't Worry Darling. I'm a fan of Florence Pugh and I was intrigued by the mystery. Didn't care about the drama surrounding it. So, as a movie, it's pretty decent. It is beautiful to look at, and some of the acting here is great (like Florence Pugh). I didn't think Harry Styles was very good, and that's not cause I don't like him or anything, I genuinely have no opinion on him - I just thought he was pretty flat and at some points bad. The mystery is set up nicely, and it moves towards a climax neatly, but that's where it loses the plot a little bit. I had a good feeling about what I thought was going on, but I was only half right. The part I didn't see coming is where I actually see some faults. Without spoiling anything, there's just not enough explained, or it's not told in a satisfying enough way to leave me feeling good with it. I am okay with open-ended endings, but that's not really what this is. It just doesn't fully explore what it's trying to deliver.

Pugh always hits.

Freddie vs. Jason (2003)

It's been over a decade since I saw this and it's a pretty wild concept. A literal battle of monsters with Freddie Kreuger fighting Jason whilst also trying to kill the teenagers of Elm Street. Much better than the "Jason X" film that I watched yesterday.

I find this movie very fun. Also, check that America Online ad at the bottom of the poster!
