My wife does the same thing. Though for these kinda movies she opts out completely. I'll be watching Terrifier 2 alone when the time comes.she’d already read the whole plot on Wikipedia

I'm halfway through this podcast, it's pretty great!I, too, was on the Barbarian train last night. Lots of fun for sure.
Glad and proud I avoided spoilers up to this point. When it was over I turned to my wife and asked “do you think it’ll hold up on rewatch, knowing where it’s going?” and she said she’d already read the whole plot on Wikipedia.
Me and your wife would get along. I am not big into scary/gory movies. My wife does the same thing. Though for these kinda movies she opts out completely. I'll be watching Terrifier 2 alone when the time comes.
Funny you mentioned this, I'm going to watch Midsommar for the first time tonight or tomorrow, will do Hereditary after.Watched a few great movies this weekend.
Poltergeist (1982)
Cant believe I had never seen this before. Such a great movie with great acting. Sure, some parts are dated but the overall themes and approach is so good.

Hereditary (2018)
Somehow completely missed this when it first came out. I watched Midsommar last week and was recommended this. Again, another really great film, builds the tension fantastically and there so many hidden elements that I imagine repeat viewings would be worthwhile.

Off the rails in a bad way?I need to talk to someone about The Night House. Hard to think of another movie I’ve seen in recent years that goes off the rails as hard as this one does in the last 30 minutes.
Did you go into it know that it's a spiritual successor to Hellraiser?I thought so. It was a pretty effective, creepy movie for the first two acts. Rebecca Hall is doing a good job, and if her character is making choices that don't seem to make sense, you can assume that the high concept just requires her to act in certain ways.
But the third act reveal was *wild* IMO. Completely nuts that the husband was protecting her from himself by becoming a SERIAL KILLER of other women in order to satisfy the spirit of 'nothing' that is corrupting him and making him want to kill his own wife
I thought the end was a weird Russian nesting doll of understated dread inside of a completely bananas explanation inside of an anti-climax inside of a half-baked meditation on grief and depression. Bafflingly weird final product.
Looking forward to this one. Bummer about the CGI. The previews made it look quite amazing. All Quiet on the Western Front was a solid movie. Definitely had some cringey moments of cheap looking CGI that detracted from the drama of the moment. Still a well-acted and the cinematography was well done. I'm sure it will win some awards.
Rewatched this recently as well. Definitely a blast, with some great spooky visuals. It’s such an overt aesthetic and tonal influence on Stranger Things.Watched a few great movies this weekend.

For the most part it's very well done. There's just a few moments with fire/flame throwers where you could tell they went with CGI over actually setting people on fire.Looking forward to this one. Bummer about the CGI. The previews made it look quite amazing.
I remember watching Jason X as well around the time it came out. Felt like a parody of itself but was a rollicking good time.Decided to watch another Horror film for the first time tonight, the original 1980 Friday the 13th.
Growing up I remember watching Jason X (which I think was set in space?) and it's pretty far removed from the original. Great film though despite the story being pretty limited.

A much better movie than everything that follows especially when consider how innovative it was at the time. Lots of things would go on to become cliche but this, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Exorcist are the 4 pillars that all modern horror movies are built upon.Decided to watch another Horror film for the first time tonight, the original 1980 Friday the 13th.

Colin Farrell is an absolute treasure. I love his role choices. So I’m guessing I’m a bit out of step here not watching a horror/thriller but I went out to the cinema last night and saw the Banshees of Inisherin. It’s just a really enjoyable and funny offbeat comedy, really liked it. Continues Martin McDonagh’s hot streak after In Bruges and 3 Billboards.
Loved In Bruges, but kind of hated Three Billboards.
