Movies

So we watched Godfather II last night and it certainly delivered. Great pacing, never felt bored or restless through 200 minutes. I had known some of the lines and scenes, but this was my first full viewing.

Now I have to ask; how bad is G3?
Sofia Coppola is the obvious choice for people to pick on, and rightfully so, she is incredibly wooden and wouldn’t even land a role on a SyFy network movie today.

I think someone said it best that G3 would be great as a stand-alone mafia film but is just good as an entry in the Godfather series.

Watched "Fall"
Reminds me of the movie Frozen (not the disney one but the stuck on a chairlift horror thriller one)
I think I'm one of the few people that love Frozen so i actually didn't actually hate "Fall" because it has similar vibes.
But it's not a super great movie to be honest but was a fun watch.

I didn't mean to trash anyone who likes The Money Pit fwiw. I like that movie too.

Coppola recut the film which should be much better.

We watched the re-cut Sunday and enjoyed it considerably more than past watches of GD3
I do want to watch this new cut, as I've heard it improves a lot of the issues with Godfather 3 - most of which are less Sofia Coppola and more writing and editing related. Even then, tho, I think it gets a tough rap just because the first 2 are all timers. Is it as good as I or II, of course not, but is it outright bad? I don't think so.

went to see titanic last night. i did not know it was going to be a 3d showing. and if i did that would have swayed me to stay home, but i am glad i didn't because there were definitely parts that were really impressive, especially the wreck exploration stuff at the beginning where there were floating particles and whatnot that really contributed to the depth of view. as for the movie, it still holds my attention throughout the entire runtime and repeated viewings always allow for finding new details or observations i'd not really noticed before, such as various fates of a lot of the ancillary characters that play out during the sinking, cal beating desperate survivors away from his boat with an oar (seriously, there is nothing redeeming whatsoever about this dude and billy zane was perfect in this role), and the fact that rose still has on low heels when she's laying on the debris in the ocean despite everything that has occurred in the hour+ leading up to that. titanic has its faults, but it is still one of the best epic blockbuster movies ever made.

It is crazy how the narrative surrounding describing the movie has gone from "sappy romantic film" to "disaster movie with a captivating romantic buildup"

It's essentially what Pearl Harbor tried to achieve and failed miserably and why James Cameron will always be one of the greats.

It’s probably because I’m really drunk rn but I just watched the 40 year old virgin for the first time and I honestly can’t remember the last time I laughed this much watching a movie. His performance in the office alone makes Steve Carell one of my favorite comedic actors but this movie made him sky rocket to the top of that list. Shoutout to both Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen who both give killer performances here and Romany Malco who killed it also but I’m sadly not familiar with other him outside of this

Romany Malco was great on Weeds. Plus we're Facebook friends and he always wishes me a happy birthday. 😅
