Saw this movie last night and it feels like an instant Holiday classic, it looks and feels like a movie from the good old days before cameras were overly HD and sharp. Its hilarious, charming, tender, heart felt, all the things and features some good old Northeastern Winter vibes that I love so much. Run, dont walk to see it with your family. Paul Giamatti is spectacular in it.

Surprised you don't like Election. Such a fun and twisted satire. I think that one or Nebraska are my favorite of his. Sideways I think is great too. It's The Descendants I think is pretty mediocre, and it's weird he won a second oscar for that one. Can't wait. About Schmidt is one of my favorite movies of all time, but I've never loved Election, or Sideways. Downsizing was an incredible disappointment. Nebraska is his #2, but by a lot. Nothing compares to Nicholson writing a “Dear Ndugu” letter for me. And every time my kid has a new piece of art to bring home from daycare, I have the line “He hopes you will like his painting” ringing in my ears.
And you get to see Kathy Bates — as god made her.
