Saw this movie last night and it feels like an instant Holiday classic, it looks and feels like a movie from the good old days before cameras were overly HD and sharp. Its hilarious, charming, tender, heart felt, all the things and features some good old Northeastern Winter vibes that I love so much. Run, dont walk to see it with your family. Paul Giamatti is spectacular in it.

Really enjoyed this as well. Didn't blow my mind or anything, just the crowdpleasing stuff that Alexander Payne is really great at. And yeah, you can really tell it was filmed on actual film. It looks so good.
 
Watched Anatomy of a Fall. I was super looking forward to it as it sounds right up my alley, but I'm not sure yet how I feel. On the one hand, there is some incredible stuff in here. On the other hand, I felt it just lacked...something by the end. I don't want an obvious movie with obvious answers, it's not that. I just felt maybe it was missing something I can't even explain. That said, there are a number of scenes in it that are some of the best I have seen this year. As a whole, not sure yet.

This looks fantastic. a bit of an Igby Goes Down, Rushmore, Wonderboys, Squid & The Whale coming-of-age vibe to it.

Nothing compares to Nicholson writing a “Dear Ndugu” letter for me. Surprised you don't like Election. Such a fun and twisted satire. I think that one or Nebraska are my favorite of his. Sideways I think is great too. It's The Descendants I think is pretty mediocre, and it's weird he won a second oscar for that one.
