Movies

My Target got rid of movies. It’s books and records now.

My target has only had movies, pretty much just new releases on register end caps for the last year or two. There is no dedicated section for them. Sometimes, there is a small center of the aisle display of movies close to where the records and books are but it's not always there.

Also, yikes. Some of those new releases on the register encapsulated, 4k Blu-ray's are like $45. Hell to the no.

The movies section is pretty tiny at my nearest Targets now, but it's still there. The vinyl row is now where the movie row used to be.

Emilia Perez -> a movie that's been hyped up and won a few awards in festival circuit the last few months. Been predicted to nab a decent amount of oscar noms. Just added to Netflix today.

Kind of terrible. Decent performances but pretty baffling choices all around. Is not on the level for any of the themes it explores (trans identify, life as a mexican woman, etc). And as a musical, it's boring and ugly. Just kind of a wet paper towel.

I just saw them premiere the trailer for Holiday Touchdown on the Today Show. It's a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie dropping November 30th and it's a Chiefs Romance.

Watching the trailer I did a double take. I was like, did Joey King get cast to yet another movie? She's in everything these days. But then I was like, no, that's not her, whoever that is looks a hell of a lot like her. Enough to make me google to find out and sure enough Holiday Touchdown cast Hunter King, who is in fact Joey Kings older sister.

Fuck, not another one. My mom starts watching those terrible Hallmark xmas movies in mid-October and they are just awful.

I watched it last night and really enjoyed it!
