N&G Secret Santa - 2020

These 3 beauties got to my house courtesy of the amazing Santa @Murfocakes ! Unfortunately I won't be in London to spin them until early 2021, but I'm eagerly awaiting so!

It's quite evident from my collection that I'm a big fan of VMP's curation, especially earlier on. And these are some that are quite jarringly missing from it.

City Music was actually the ROTM the month I joined. I loved it then, and the VMP colourway is a beaut. At the time I swapped for Gorillaz, but I've been meaning to getting it ever since then and somehow never did.

I actually once bough Person Pitch before it sold out to give to a friend who's probably the world's #1 Panda Bear/Animal Collective fan, but ended up not getting myself a copy before it sold out. I love Panda Bear's music (Tomboy for example is an album I really love. I actually have a photo with him somewhere deep in my archives, he's really lovely. And he lives in my hometown, so I've always felt a special connection to him and his music.

Despite being a big Angel Olsen fan, I haven't yet carefully listened to her past two records, and I'm actually really excited to give All Mirrors a proper listen!

Thank you so much! These were such a lovely surprise!

Glad you like them. Morby and Panda were on your wish list whereas you had other Angel albums but not All Mirrors.

TAKE IN THE STRINGS

So, unexpectedly I received my Secret Santa gift today and I'm completely floored by the generosity. I'm not going to post any pics just yet, I'll wait for the bulk of people to get their goodies and start posting and then I'll add mine to the thread.

That being said, a truly heartfelt thank you to my Santa, the item sent was on my list, but has been for quite a while with the intention of eventually picking it up, I had no delusion of it coming from this event. Again, the generosity around here is staggering at times and I'm happy to be a part of such an amazing community.

To my Santa, you shouldn't have, but Thank you!! :)
Well, let’s see what you got!

I received a package last night and thought I’d wait until closer to Christmas to open it....that last until I finished my cocktail.

Felt - Forever Breathes the Lonely Word
John Grant - Queen of Denmark

Thank you Santa @McGlam !! These are two artists that I’ve heard of but have never listened to. I appreciate the fact you went off list to pick a couple of albums that you think I’ll enjoy...I can’t wait dig into these.
Nice! I LOVE that John Grant album. Give it a few spins if it doesn't grab you right away; it's a grower.

Alright "Santa".............

Really very much appreciated and completely unexpected, this has been on my list for a while and I've been waiting for an acid deal or GC for my birthday or whatnot to chip down the price a bit. Oddly enough, I did get a $50 Gift Card from my brother in law for my Birthday the same day this showed up on my doorstep.

Once again, the generosity and comradery in this community is second to none and speaks volumes about it's members. Huge thank you to my Santa and wishing everyone Happy Holidays :)

Santa,

I am humbled.
You must have spent a long, long, LONG time digging through my collection (SORRY!) to arrive at these perfectly curated pieces.

I've been missing Mingus! [Some CD's, but not even this one, in my collection... though I don't have many CD's in my Discogs]
I don't have this FlyLo! I have a deep love for his music, but somehow this flew under my radar.
And I have been meaning to get around to Courtney Barnett! [seriously, this was an "I will get around to it someday" album and someday is NOW!]

I am so, so, so grateful for this :)

I hope someday you reveal yourself, but, if you don't, know that every second you spent on making this happen is beyond appreciated!

Much love,
MadLucas

great choices

if you like the courtney barnett album definitely try out "sometimes i sit and think.."

the only major issue that could be there is that the mingus record is one of the european bootleg DOL copies (basically europe copyright law says its public domain because its 50 years old and the EU has a weird public domain law with vinyl). so its probably not made with anything more than a CD or maybe a hires file if you are lucky.. it could sound great for all i know but its definitely not mastered from the original analog

LOL, Have ya ever heard the phrase “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth”?

That FELT album is nothing less than a gateway drug to other FELT albums.
And it will still be the one you come back to. SO good :)
