N&G Secret Santa - 21

Looks like Santa came suddenly to town

And it was @gouis

The note made for me was very very nice and explained about how hard it was to pick which album (hence how I got 4 LPs)

I finally can get to listening to talking heads, I really like white light personally (better than & Nico imo but a great choice), and the classic last album by the band that invented post punk

Thank you very much

That’s a different album cover on White Light/White Heat than what I’ve seen

More than just a simple twist of fate that my santa ended up being:

1. One of the handful of folks here I've met in person.
2. Someone who lives <60 minutes of me.
3. Someone with the same name as me!!

Been meaning to add both of these to the collection for a long time, thank you so much @cul8er !!!!! Hope to catch you at another show here sometime soon!!

Edit: just noticed the socks from my favorite local as well, thank you so much man! Happy holidays!

Cheers! I'm so glad you like them, and I'm glad you found the socks! 🍻

I'm assuming this came from my Santa. I actually was not expecting this, as I asked that my Santa be randomly assigned to someone else participating and I thought that was gonna happen. Nonetheless, I truly appreciate the gift. It actually arrived on the 8th but I'm at a mil base doing some training and only go to my PO Box when I'm expecting something. As I was not expecting anything I didn't check till yesterday and saw the slip for pickup.

I've never listened to The Church, although I do remember a few talking about this pressing over the last month or so. It came up in a discussion about Intervention Records, which I am familiar with and figure that if this record is on par with past IR pressings, then this should be good.

Anywho, again, thank you.

Follow-up on The Church's Starfish.....what a great, lovely album so far. I gave it a clean and am currently three songs in. It would really have to take a hard turn for it not to finish as a great album, given how strong it has begun. Right up the alley of sounds I like (well, I like a lot of different types of sounds; but def like this one).

It amazes me, given how open and consuming I (and most here) am with music how there will always be albums that evade my RADAR for far too long. It also dawns on me that there will be fantastic music that I will never get to before I die no matter how open I am or how long ago it was made. But that's ok. I can't regret that of which I am unaware. And, honestly, if missed music is the biggest regret I have at the end of my time, well, then I'd say I had a pretty fortunate and successful run.

Thanks again, Santa! Even Jews get lucky on Christmas!
