I don’t know metal as well and I haven’t had many drunk conversations with @Goatfish to have a gauge on his taste and I doubt trawling NME end of year lists will help here. Unless it’s Iowa. That was a UK number 1 album in the full main charts you know!

Korn was the album that turned me away from what was current in metal for a considerable amount of time. I like aggressive music but it just wan't for me.

Good stuff. Only a few left in the could be guesses now. I'm ahead for the first time. Mastodon was out in 2009, it's over 10 years on the nose but not at 11 so I've left it in.

Fuck this. I can't work it out! My final guess - E•MO•TION by Carly Rae Jepsen. Red Blue and White on the cover. LA Hallucinations is a track - legal marijuana and Side B has a track called Higher. It's some heavy shit, proper satanic evil, the deluxe edition even has a song called Black Heart. Tom Hanks who has been in Saving Private Ryan (World War II - Atomic bomb remember) was also in Carly's I Really Like You video. Critical acclaim. Billboard hit. The Wizards links to her pop magic.
