I am sure you will. I haven't read you a lot recently, what have you done?
I’ve been around everyday, but don’t see you because we hang around on different threads! I usually go on all the VMP threads and go on the hip-hop thread and Albums of The Year thread and occasionally on other more random threads. I’m not on the Jazz thread or Pre-order thread and not as much on the N&G AOTM threads. That’s why I don’t see you much! 😭

How many 3LP or 4LP (I’m assuming not more than that because then the 30 dollar price becomes very unrealistic) OG albums from Europe from 2000-2019 can there be....

I am trying to avoid the Pre-Order thread (I post but tend not to read because it's a dangerous place). N&G threads are the best. Our records are all flat, undamaged and sound perfectly, on contrary to a certain vinyl club I won't name. In addition, all AOTM are fantastic and Silent Alarm is another example of how good is the curation.

But.........VMP is the good stuff! 💁‍♂️😅

But also a lot of other great vinyl retailers for me, like Light In The Attic, Mr. Bongo, Colemine Records etc, but I just can’t afford them because of International shipping costs.

Still, I think VMP is the best one out of all of them, because of their incredible Classics track and mostly great R&HH and Essentials ROTM picks!

VMP has some good stuff, it also has some crap, the QC and logistics is all over the place and they’re not an appealing bunch of people to buy from for me anymore. Just another shop that I’ll only use if they hit it 100%. I’ve honestly thought that their curation has been pretty poor this year, especially the 6 months in the middle of the year for Essentials. Even classics has been questionable at point this year and it’s balance was all over the place.

The 6 on this thread so far (and hopefully people judge 7 kindly too!) have been distinct, interesting and from the left field. Even if I’ve not loved every pick I’ve appreciated the love and thought that’s gone into it!

Yeah, N&G threads are honestly are the best! I love scrolling through the threads and I love the fun that goes into them!

That is true that VMP is very inconsistent with their quality control, but I still enjoy them and am happy getting my warped records professionally cleaned and fixed/unwarped, with VMP giving me credit for when a record is warped. It’s OK for me! Urban Outfitters have been the worst but I still get my Britney Spears’ exclusives from them and am happy to get them unwarped too 🙈

But, my Nicole Atkins for example was actually warped! I did get it fixed though, and it does sound great!

But back to the Silent Alarm AOTM, I’m really looking forward to checking it out, because I do really like Joe’s music taste! ♥️🔥👌

I think @dhodo has it!
Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh & Thomas Bartlett

it's also widely available at affordable cost (21 GBP in amazon.co.uk).

and has anybody noticed how @Joe Mac hasn't gone close to mention it in any of his responses here?
I was just whittling down the posted guesses. Don't you think it might be a stretch to call them a group/band? I'm thinking it isn't on the guess list, but who knows.

Yeah, the N&G picks have been very distinct, diverse and left-field! And I also 100% agree. I haven’t loved every pick so far in terms of what I’ve heard, but I’ve absolutely loved the passion and heart that has gone into each pick! ♥️

I always say when in doubt go to the dictionary! The OED defines them as:

Group Musical: A number of musicians who play popular music together; and

Band Musical: A small group of musicians and vocalists who play pop, jazz, or rock music.

Make of that what you will...

Yeah, I'm still thinking the Gloaming (I suppose 2, since 3 is a new release that Joe might not have had enough time with).

In addition to it being a little weird to call Caoimhín/Thomas Bartlett a group (since it's really more of Gloaming side project), it's maybe also weird to call them European since half the "group" would be American in that case. The Gloaming is more clearly a European band that Bartlett is part of.
