Needles & Grooves Fantasy Hockey League

Thought we had 12? If you need me to bail to get him in that's cool.

Stat category suggestion:
Change PPP to PPA.
Since we a re counting Goals, PPG, and PPP we are counting Goals 3X. If you make the switch from PPP to PPA then both goals and assists are counted 2X.
No I don't want you to bail out but thanks for offering.

I like your stat category suggestion 👍 PPP is kind of redundant tbh.

TBH, I'm ok with keeping PPP. Regular goals and assists count for 2 categories each (G+P vs A+P), but assists are already massively advantaged because there's 2 per goal. By making PPG and PPP categories, you actually up the value of goals to get closer to assists (PPG = G + P + PPP + PPG while PP assist = A + P + PPP, but there are two per goal).

If we replace PPP for PPA, assists then get disproportionately way more valuable because of the two per goal thing.

Assists are pretty big. If your guys get a lot of goals and PPG's, then you rack-up 4 categories, but if your opponent racks up assists, which are more frequent because of the 2 per goal, then he passes you in 2 of 4 of those categories. It's pretty even, honestly.

What I'm trying to say is assists are already advantaged because there are 2 per goal. Having PPG + PPP categories helps bring up the importance of goals to something equivalent to assists.

Fair enough. I mean I can live with keeping the stat categories intact, however I'm having problems with not having 4 bench spots like most standard league formats A standard roster in a 12 man league, typically consists of 16 players, 12 starters and 4 bench spots. Just look at the mock draft for example, it has 4 x BN not 3 😆
Why do you think that is?

I wouldn't mind the extra bench spot too, actually. Especially if we make FA go through waivers (and by that I mean Free Agency go through waivers and not Fuck All go through waivers).

I didn't know there were always 2 per goal, It still feels weird to me to count goals 3X but I get it.

I guess one way to counter the assist thing in future years is to weight the categories. Like you get 1 point for a goal and .75 for an assist or something like that.

I like adding another bench spot. The disadvantage is maybe a little thinner waiver wire but maybe it encourages trades?
