Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

Agreed, @Chucktshoes ideologies differ a great deal from mine but I respect his beliefs. I honestly applaud his willingness to engage with us regarding politics. Always outnumbered, never outgunned.
Eh, I wouldn’t say I was willing. More like against my better judgement.
That's my fault for going to hard in the paint, I think it's very important and healthy to be able to have discussion across the aisle hell that's why we are in the situation we are in today because we have label each side as an enemy rather than a fellow American
That's my bad for taking it to far @Chucktshoes it's great being able to discuss and tall about different viewpoints, I'll lay off the personal attacks
While I appreciate the sentiment, I would say I started it with my intense eye roll at DitNU.

Me and my wife talk about this a lot. Older people didn't have to come up in a world where facts are malleable and truth is blatantly manipulated. The idea of a "good source" has literally never occurred to our parents. They see a post on Facebook and assume it's true without researching the biases of the authors. It's a little scary, to be honest, because I'd bet 80% of older folks are like that. (And the ones posting on this forum likely aren't, because you're way more tech savvy just to be on a forum like this than your peers, so don't take it personally boomers).

The whole "millennial whining" thing is more about pointing out the trends and the material facts for many youngish Americans compared to the previous generations. It's not really whining to point out that boomers came up during one of the most prosperous times in history, but that this country has significantly changed since the 1980s, making it much more difficult for many youngish Americans to achieve the same level of stability and prosperity that their parents were gifted with.

But yes, muh bootstraps.

I am hesitant to dip my toe in here but...there’s something incongruent with absolving the longer-lived for not responsibly adapting to the world they live in today because the world operated differently “in their day”, while at the same time telling younguns to stop complaining about the effects of the lack of adaptation by those with power and $ and to, ironically, be responsible for their own situation and “adapt”.

Not pointing the finger at @botherly at all - just just the immediacy of the two comments together triggered the thought.

Today’s Quaratined Pseudo-Philosophical thoughts are brought to you by the stir-crazy 40-something cis, white male not eligible for the COVID relief payment, fortunate enough to own property and to have a job that continues to pay him but does not involve life threatening exposure to a deadly virus, who maybe should have just kept his big mouth shut.....but here we are...

I just got a laugh about reading an article about Australian police in boats are pulling over yachts at sea in Australian waters.

The ultra wealthy are self isolating at sea in their yachts, however, Australia prohibited unnecessary travel which includes floating at sea in your yacht.

They are being fined. Escorted back to port if they are citizens or escorted out of Australian waters if they are not citizens.

Full on protest happening right now in Michigan's capital. Robustly attended, and they certainly aren't staying six feet apart.
Virus be damned I guess. They want Whitmer out. (They call her Hitmer.)

What are they protesting exactly?

Social distancing orders or lake there of?

Yup. Nothing more American than the right to endanger the loves of others.
I think there's a pretty big gap between making strong suggestions from a position of leadership and making unconstitutional, and thus unenforceable, mandates. I am glad people are protesting this. I wish they would heed suggestions and I get why people in power may feel the need for mandates but ultimately it is wrong and should be protested.
