Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

That is an insane article. Thank for sharing it! I have an autoimmune disease, and it's a little scary sometimes how many people are not taking this seriously. I mean, I understand that the survival rate is higher than the death rate, but that doesn't mean it justifies the risk of spreading it or catching it. People are still dying from it, and this IS a new illness that we are all still learning about.
I'm scared too. I've been taking blood tests and seeing doctors for the past four months. The hematologist that I went to thinks that I also probably have an autoimmune disease. She's also going to test me for meyloma--bone marrow cancer, but given my platelet counts, it looks more like an autoimmune response than cancer. I'm also really scared of getting sick. I haven't been officially diagnosed yet which makes me more nervous. What do I do or say to doctors if I get COVID? I have something, we just aren't sure what.

Yesterday was the largest increase of new cases to date for Massachusetts as well.

Last week we saw an odd increase in positive cases in my county. No known reason why, but it means that we aren't done with it. We are still well below capacity at the hospital...even to the point of taking away stretchers we has set up in a spare room on our floor we were going to use as surge beds if needed.

In 2018 I was diagnosed with Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) aka Wegner's Disease. In the beginning, I think the biggest thing that helped me was documenting my symptoms. If you're having visible symptoms (swelling, rashes, bruising, etc) take pictures. Try to keep a journal of what activities you do each day, any symptoms, and what you ate too. Especially if you were able to do something all the time (ex. walk 3 miles every day no problem), but now you can't do it (ex. can't even walk 1 mile without fatigue). Also, write down any questions you have to bring with you to the doctor. My Rheumatolgist has been amazing and listens to any questions or concerns I have. My notes and pictures also helped with diagnosing, because sometimes my physical symptoms would lessen or go away by the time I was able to get an appointment. The waiting for results is frustrating and stressful in itself. I also went through the scare of it could be lupus, leukemia, or just allergies. Try to take it one day at a time, and try to do things that relax you. I'm also in different Facebook support groups for my illness which helps to talk with other people who have the same illness, and what they do/did that helped them. If you want to talk more feel free to PM me. Good luck! 😘

Last night I texted my father about how protests are starting to take place here in MA to reopen the state. He said as they should, the flu is worse than COVID-19. Then he gave me a break down about how the flu is worse than COVID-19.

He basically made the argument that the flu is worse. With COVID-19 more than half the people show no symptoms and never get sick. It may be more contagious than the flu, but the flu is worse. More people get sick with the flu.

Then he went on about how the death rate for COVID-19 is .003, half that of the flu. All the higher death rates you see are from CNN where they inflate the actual death rate with deaths by other causes.

He says when the data comes out, and it will, that this whole pandemic was a hoax and the lockdowns were not necessary people are going to revolt.
this is what I don't get about the folks who want to argue with the stats and science/Trump's base. It's a hoax to damage Trump (yeah, the whole world is out to get him and decided this was the best way to do it...) But at the same time we have Trump saying maybe we should look into injecting disinfectant. Even he's taking it seriously enough to come up with dumb shit like that and to talk to the public every day, but it's a hoax? So is he propagating the hoax himself now?

Despite having one of the toughest "lockdowns" in the country, this happened after california reopened some beaches with social distancing rules in place. Southern California is experiencing a heat wave and beaches were opened up for residents to walk, run, swiming and surfing.

Bringing beach blankets, beach chairs, tents and hanging out at the beach was prohibited. Parking lots remained closed in an attempt to keep beach access to local residents only.

As you can see in the pictures, this failed. Yesterday Newport beach was packed like a holiday weekend according to locals, social distancing guidelines completely ignored.

Colorado's Governor is allowing the stay at home orders to expire today, April 26 and will not be extending the stay at home orders.

Colorado has not seen 14 days of decline yet.

Balancing the advice of the scientific experts and the needs of the economy, Colorado's Governor feels that the best move for the state of Colorado is to let the stay at home orders expire so people can get back to work. He feels we have reached the point where the number of people out of work and struggling to provide for their family is worse than the virus. With his order, unlike Georgia, he is allowing local communities to have their own stay at home policies where they feel it is best to remain closed a little bit longer. Denver so far is the only community to take advantage of this extending the stay at home order until May 8th.

Thanks to a post at Coronavirus. There's a pointer to Coronavirus Disease Outbreak in Call Center, South Korea and a diagram at Figure 2 - Coronavirus Disease Outbreak in Call Center, South Korea - Volume 26, Number 8—August 2020 - Emerging Infectious Diseases journal - CDC.

Abstract
We describe the epidemiology of a coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak in a call center in South Korea. We obtained information on demographic characteristics by using standardized epidemiologic investigation forms. We performed descriptive analyses and reported the results as frequencies and proportions for categoric variables. Of 1,143 persons who were tested for COVID-19, a total of 97 (8.5%, 95% CI 7.0%–10.3%) had confirmed cases. Of these, 94 were working in an 11th-floor call center with 216 employees, translating to an attack rate of 43.5% (95% CI 36.9%–50.4%). The household secondary attack rate among symptomatic case-patients was 16.2% (95% CI 11.6%– 22.0%). Of the 97 persons with confirmed COVID-19, only 4 (1.9%) remained asymptomatic within 14 days of quarantine, and none of their household contacts acquired secondary infections. Extensive contact tracing, testing all contacts, and early quarantine blocked further transmission and might be effective for containing rapid outbreaks in crowded work settings.

Essentially this spells trouble for offices. When you have people seated next to one another the virus can quickly spread through and office. If we open back up to soon and things return to normal at the traditional offices all it takes is one infected person and then you can an outbreak.
