Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

@Chucktshoes

Interesting info in my morning meeting. Many truck stops are starting to go on lockdown to limit access. They are putting porta potties outside. How are these men and women supposed to shower????
I haven’t seen that yet. If I do, I will remember the truck shop and won’t be back ever. The reality is that us drivers are at a heightened risk of contracting it, but don’t treat us like lepers.

has anyone ever ordered alcohol online? I joined one of those monthly wine clubs way back in 2015 and had to get it shipped to my work because you need to sign for it in person. I am home all the time so I could do it now. I ended up cancelling the club only after a month because it was a hassle to arrange a date for it to get delivered conveniently for me at work.

I have a good stock right now. But I'm just thinking because liquor cannot be sold in grocery stores in VT (only beer and wine) if I wanted to buy something else I'd have to get it delivered.

I don’t drink much, but I did sign up for a wine club as a gift to someone last Christmas. Kept two bottles, gave two as gifts. Ended up canceling just for the reason you described. It’s too much a hassle.

As far as other deliveries go, we have a local delivery system that is mostly food but they recently started doing alcohol delivery from liquor stores. Haven’t tried it yet but I’m wondering how well it works. Also they haven’t said anything about this time so I guess it’s business as usual as of right now.

Haven’t looked into any other online delivery things. I’m sure it’s similar to the wine clubs. And they’re likely not as affected right now, right?

None of this was helpful.

Here so far we’ve still only had one confirmed positive case, and several negatives. But to even get a test done here there are so many things you have to do, so they aren’t testing that many people.

But the state and local governments are surprisingly doing really well with this. I wouldn’t have expected that honestly. The public school system is now staying closed through their spring break (second week of April) and the university is finishing out the semester online. They are really pushing people trying to stay home as much as possible. I don’t know if that’s happening here cause I haven’t gone anywhere myself. Tomorrow I’m babysitting and I hope that’s all okay to do right now.

We need Universal Basic Income now or the humanitarian crises caused by this economic devastation will be worse than the virus itself:

Capital Economics have predicted that the UK economy could shrink by around 15% in the next three months, as Covid-19 triggers a “big recession”.

That would be a staggering drop in economic activity, inflicting real pain on millions of people.

For comparison, the UK shrank by 6% during and after the 2008 financial crisis -- and that was spread across more than a year.

Day 1 of kids home: i'm on parental leave since friday till october annd only habe to work a day a week. I imagined my paarental lwave would be chillin with the baby and listening to records, but at least we have no pressure job-wise.kindergarden will be closed for the next 5 weeks so we try to get some kindergarden routines. So we do morning circles ( today was singing, tomorrow will be sports, we is crafts). Oh yeah, and due to daddys negotiation skills between the 3yo and the 6yo we are now officially the unicorn-penguin group and after stamping that name and all our names on on a posterthey drew pretty cool unicorned penguins on that as well. Having to deal with 3 kids all day keeps the bad news of the world out for a while.
Check out some of the resources on Khan academy:

And I like some of the stuff on the scholastic site:

If I find other stuff that looks good, I'll point you there. We also have flashcards and lots of books. We are trying to cut down on tv time, which isn't easy. And I'm still working so my husband is taking over making sure they aren't just hooked to screens.

I have ordered cases of wine many times as I too was part of wine club, but mine was quarterly. I've also ordered craft beer on the fly where the microbrewery delivers it right at your door for a minimum fee. 🍺

EDIT: but as of right now my local breweries are all offering free delivery!

I haven't.

Up until a couple years ago it was Illegal in MA. Still is illegal in states like RI.

MA now allows for you to order wine online, up to 12 bottles a month.

I'm not sure of the legality of beer or hard stuff. I know most sites that sell Scotch online will not ship too MA / we are excluded. Yet a site form the UK will ship here.

Drizzly is an option though. You can order your alcohol through the app, and their driver goes and gets it and delivers it to you.

Currently stuck home, and sick. Maybe a simple cold, maybe more, I'm following the quarantine process and popping some paracetamol into my body now.
