I am really liking the singles from Tess Roby.

God the releases just wont stop coming!

  • Hatchie - Giving the World Away (Currently #2 for most anticipated album of the year for me, the singles have all been great)
  • King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Omnium Gatherum (Ive honestly cooled on them ALOT since 2019 so im hoping this album brings back my love for them, although the single did nothing for me)
  • Pusha T - It's Almost Dry (Never actually listened to one of his solo albums so it's definitely time to change that)

I got the new Hatchie in the mail early yesterday and it is really good. I'm so happy she didn't go fully pop (yet) since it has always felt like she's just on the cusp of it. Lots of shoegaze influences as well as sounding really synthy like the most recent Tamaryn record.

Really excited for Spiritualized to finally be out and Fontaines D.C. I haven't been keen on the Fontaines singles outside of "Jackie Down the Line" so I'm trying to temper my expectations of that one.

I agree with your take on the new Hatchie. I'm so glad that she didn't go too pop, because what she is doing is working so well for me.

I realized a while ago that music like Hatchie is probably my favorite genre of music. Things that straddle the line between pop, Shoegaze, dream pop, indie rock, and a little bit of electronic. It’s hard to find people who do all of them well or have almost all overlap which, I think, is why I love The Radio Dept. so much. See also: Yumi Zouma, Wild Nothing, DIIV, Beach House, Men I Trust, Craft Spells, Candy Claws. Hazel English, etc.

I haven't and won't have a ton of time to catch up on releases today, but I did stream the first handful of songs from that Hatchie album and it's really good! I never listened to her before, so it was a nice surprise. I wanna listen to the new King Gizzard, but it's a long one, and I gotta like have some time to set aside for it.
