I almost didn’t even listen to it cause I didn’t know anything about her honestly. But it’s a really good album, and makes me want to seek out the vinyl. Not in today’s inventory at my local though. This new Hatchie album is so good! Easily going to be on my AOTY top 10. I just learned that she had the same producer of the last few Tamaryn albums which makes perfect sense.
Check out her first album and early EP. The EP is pound for pound the best thing she’s done still.I almost didn’t even listen to it cause I didn’t know anything about her honestly. But it’s a really good album, and makes me want to seek out the vinyl. Not in today’s inventory at my local though.
I still haven't listened to a single album today.Have you guys checked out the Tess Roby album? It's great!
100 percent agree. Her EP is straight fire, even though it looks very bubblegum poppy. Mine is "baby pink" vinyl with a heart etching on it. But it kicks ass.Check out her first album and early EP. The EP is pound for pound the best thing she’s done still.
Hmmm. I guess I need to listen to Whatever the Weather.HOOOO BOOOOYYYY
It's been a great week.
- Hatchie - Giving the World Away
- Kathryn Joseph - for you who are the wronged
- Tess Roby - Ideas of Space [after going back through my concert archives, I had an epiphany that I've already seen Tess in concert; she opened for Julia Holter!!! It's no surprise that I enjoyed this]
- Whatever the Weather - Whatever the Weather [this is stellar. Goodness.]
- S. Carey - Break Me Open [I have to admit, @Hollywood...you're right.]
- Defcee & BoatHouse - For All Debts Public and Private
- Lydia Képinski - Depuis [fun French/alt-pop]
- Mizmor & Thou - Myopia
- 春ねむり - 春火燎原 [there are many fantastic moments, but its a bit long and with instances of undesirable genre whiplash. This will garner more listens from me and with that...I may end up moving this to in time. "春雷" is one of my favorite songs of the year]
- Primer - Incubator [solid synthpop. Doesn't necessarily innovate, but it bears enough highlights to remain an enjoyable listen]
- Pusha T - It's Almost Dry
- Redveil - Learn 2 Swim [somewhat frontloaded, but very fresh]
- Daniel Rossen - You Belong There [this took me by surprise with how dynamic, progressive, and spirited the instrumentation is for a folk or singer/songwriter record. This will require revisits]
- Claire Rousay - Everything Perfect is Already Here
- Spiritualized - Everything Was Beautiful [enjoyable record, but this is one I wouldn't be itching to play again. Not sure this band is to my tastes, despite their legendary status and my owning of two of their classics]
- Axel Boman - LUZ [my general 50/50 disagreement with P4K's BNM selections continues]
- Axel Boman - Quest for Fire [slightly better than the above]
- Field Works - Stations
- Fontaines D.C. - Skinty Fia [first time listening to this band]
- iANO - Life Cycles
- Red Velvet - Bloom [is it a guilty pleasure? Definitely. The Japanese lyrics were a serious WTF moment]
- Weiland - Vices [hyperpop crowd would probably dig this more than I did]
- Camila Cabello - Familia
- Koloah - Serenity
- Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - Night Gnomes [a downgrade from Shyga! The Sunlight Mound last year]
None.
Great list! Don't forget to check out the new album from Undeath (arguably the best new death metal act in the game). Also, the new King Gizzard album, though all over the place, is pretty awesome. And I'm glad to see Tess Roby where she landed. These three were my top albums from the 22ndHOOOO BOOOOYYYY
