New Music Friday!

He’s gotten a bit too cute with the Nazi bullshit on multiple occasions unfortunately. It sucks because I love Pantera, and enjoyed Down and Superjoint Ritual.

Obviously to each their own, for me I take in to consideration that those groups have members that seemingly aren’t that way.

yeah, he's done that shit for years, and it is a bummer because there's no one really like Pantera.

Damn. That blows. The whole reason I checked it out was because I was like, "I like Pantera, I should check out Pantera guy's new thing."

My assumption is a quarter of the people who make metal/industrial/aggressive music suck and I should not spend any time learning anything about them.
Yeah, I definitely would NOT like to have a beer with James Hetfield and Tom Araya either.

It’s kinda why I was especially bummed when Power Trip’s Riley Gale OD’d. That dude was a leftist and his lyrics reflected it.

That's fair.

But I think it's also fair to make it duly noted that every genre has its "I wouldn't want to grab a beer with" crowd, every genre has it's pieces of shit.

Completely. It’s basically separating the art from the artist. I think that’s up to each individual. I am not going to blame anyone if they hate artists that are pieces of shit. Just because I might still enjoy their music doesn’t mean others have to and I would never try to convince them otherwise.

I think Phil Anselmo is a piece of shit, so is Miles Davis and Morrissey I still listen to all 3 but you’ll never catch me defending them as humans.

I had to look this up because I was unaware of anything about Hetfield. That's disappointing. I mean, the dude's in a band with a Mexican dude and a Filipino dude.

Araya the only thing I found is his wife's a Trumper; mostly Tom strikes me as a "leave me out of your bullshit" type of guy -- which I think is a big part of why Slayer fell apart when it was just him and Kerry King. I think sort of everyone liked Hanneman a bit and was annoyed by everyone else in the band. Once Jeff was gone, Tom and Kerry were just sorta left staring at each other going "do you want to tourr these same songs again?"

Still got a couple of strays and incidentals in the queue but, so far, Patterson Hood's latest solo album is my favourite release of the week. Sunny War and DJ Muggs round out the top 3 for me.
