New Music Friday!

NYX's self-titled debut LP has been one that I have been highly anticipating since I first discovered the group with their collaboration with Gazelle Twin on 2021's Deep England (one of my favorite albums of that year). NYX is a London-based group of experimental vocalists and electronic artists. And on their debut they additionally collaborate with string players, a harpist, and some percussionists. The voice is the most powerful instrument on this album, however, as the group's powerful choral performances outshine everything. But, that being said, the drony, ambient walls of electronic sound, along with the aforementioned orchestrations from the collaborators make for a breathtaking experience instrumentally. This album is stunning, and my standout so far from this new music Friday.

Edit: forgot to mention, track 7, 'Undercurrent', is an Top10 song of the year right now.

Like I don’t think I’m capable of describing the terribleness of it. He’s angry and cursing and doing voices and it’s gospel. He tried to be hard and then there will be the bouncy kind of upbeat thing you would expect. It’s a train wreck. (Sunday Service even makes an appearance.)

So what you're saying is, it will get a Grammy nomination. Got it.

Will’s always been corny, but the genius behind it has been how he embraced his goofiness. Now his style is what I would describe as cringe-corny. He still makes some decent decisions, but society has not moved in the same direction as his time in the spotlight.
