New Music Friday!

The more I listen to the new Ghost 👻 album the more I like it 👍It may be their most accessible album to date but it's also their most fun, melodic, hook-laden, catchy guitar 🎸riffing arena rock LP in their discography! 🤘🤘
I feel the same way. In case it wasn’t obvious, I’m a huge Ghost fan.

I’ve listened to it three times, and I think I love it. Is it super cheesy and over the top? Uh, yeah. But that’s Ghost, and it’s not going to be for everyone. I do miss the spooky, occult and overtly Satanic themes of their early stuff, but this album is seriously a blast.

I am going to enjoy this new iteration of one of my favorite bands, and I look forward to where they go next.

I definitely agree with your top picks!! I can’t wait for the physical of that Jenny Hval.

I can’t wait for that Rosalia!! I am interested in the album from Hinako Omori.

I'm always on the fence with Alex Cameron, liking the music but having a hard time connecting with the lyrics. There's a certain bite to them that's never quite funny and that has made me uncomfortable in the past. Nothing wrong with that in terms of art, but not necessarily something I go back to.

Yeah I agree. I liked his last album “Miami Memory” because the songs were really catchy. On a first listen, this new one isn’t really grabbing me as much. The only song that really stood out for me was “Dead Eyes.” His music is in a weird spot where the music is so light and fluffy but the lyrics are so dark - you can’t really put it on as a pick-me-up, but it sounds too cheesy to really be a good moody, cathartic listen either. Also his delivery of the lyrics is so casual that it kind of undermines the weight of the heavy themes and sometimes kind of comes off like he’s just referencing these things to make his yacht rock sound more edgy. If it sounds like I kind of hate listening to his music, yeah, I guess maybe that’s true haha. But “Miami Memory” as a song (and many other songs on that album) was just so catchy and groovy that I could tune out the lyrics and just enjoy.

The new Yumi Zouma is really good! I've really loved all their albums, and I think by now they're just a super consistently enjoyable band. Still need some more time with it, which I'm hoping to do when I get my vinyl copy.

I also got the new Charli XCX a day early, but I ashamedly haven't had the time ti listen to it yet other than the first half on streaming. I'm digging it a lot. I don't get the initial criticism that seemed to be floating around online. It's super fun, big pop music - and still very much her own style.
