I will never not visualize you as Stan.

And...it's working again. Happy me. I know I and many others have said it - but it's remarkably easy to fix. As it turned out I hadn't ever replaced the side PCB (which includes the on/off switch, drying for I or II, and power cable connector) but it was a doddle. 🤞 it lasts a decent amount of time...

now that im up and running again what's the surfactant that everyone is using in this machine that works reliably and doesnt gum anything up?
G-Sonic for me

I didn't believe it at first, but glad I took everyone's advice and only ordered the small bottle too. Damn stuff will last forever.

ok...finally gave in. arrived today - took some crackle monsters (that looked perfect) through a 5/5 cycle....truly outstanding, complete rescue on most. Possibly better than my VPI MW1 (it's back in the states).

this has to be one of the best value upgrades you can make (my denon 103r sounds like its brand new)

now having used surfacant in the regular cleaning of my records I'm eyeballing everything in my collection and trying to remember which ones were troublesome or could use another cleaning. It would be silly to just... reclean everything... right...

Another sad update from me (not trying to be negative, but figure it could be useful for others to know about issues with the machines) - after a few weeks of working well with a new PCB and power supply, suddenly the rotor has stopped working (for a second time). I've written to them suggesting there should be a warranty on spare parts - if they would send a replacement for free I'll repair it, otherwise that's me with this HG.

The good news was that I've done all my African 7s, and most of my collection. The bad news is that I still had maybe 50 7s to clean and a few hundred albums. I kind of have to have a cleaner. But paying $50-60 every couple of months (and not being able to use the machine for the month it takes for diagnosis, mailing etc) doesn't strike me as sustainable now. Not sure what to do next though...
