NHL Thread Because There Isn't An NHL Thread

Winnipeg Jets head coach Paul Maurice confirmed that forwards Nikolaj Ehlers and Pierre-Luc Dubois wouldn't be in the team's lineup for Game 1 against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Both skaters were on the ice wearing non-contact jerseys during Wednesday morning's practice.

These were the club's line rushes at practice Tuesday:

The Jets previously ruled Ehlers out for the remainder of the regular season after he suffered an upper-body injury in late April. However, Maurice indicated he expected him to return for the postseason. The dynamic forward finished the season with 21 goals and 25 assists in 47 games.

Dubois suffered an undisclosed injury during Winnipeg's regular-season finale against the Toronto Maple Leafs last week. He finished the campaign with eight goals and 12 assists in 41 games with the Jets after being traded from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

What you talkin about Willis?

Melnyk did an interview where he complained about not being able to get a downtown lot for a new arena, with all of the problems and law suits going on with the Le Breton flats project. He mentioned he could use a lot in Kanata, but also said he had an offer on a lot with a view of the Parliament in Gatineau. Not sure exactly where... but you know Melnyk and how he likes to stir shit up sometimes.

It was in this Podcast:

The Preds had some good looks while I was watching during the 2nd (and a crossbar too, right? - I was flipping around tonight so I can't keep the games straight, LOL). But they didn't look outclassed at all...
Yeah Forsberg hit the crossbar. Tonight felt like Carolina had eight guys out there at all times. We could have played that game for the next year and wouldn’t have won. Nedeljkovic looked like the second coming of Patrick Roy tonight.

If St. Louis keeps playing at this level, they’ll be enjoying the golf links early. This seems like such a lopsided series. But these Avs are playing at a next level for sure!

Not going to lie, in my bracket I predicted Carolina for the cup in the SCF against the Avalanche.

I didn't watch the game last night but to my surprise the Jets beat the Oilers 4-1. 😳

I'm sort of surprised/not surprised. Winnipeg had a bad spell to end the year, but they are the better structured team IMO. Personally, I think the Oilers are the most over-rated team in the North. They have superstar game breakers, but if you can stop them, their defensive structure is not that impressive. If the Jets can keep it together, they can take this...
