NHL Thread Because There Isn't An NHL Thread

Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev has been suspended for two games for an illegal check to the head of Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Friday.

Sergachev laid the hit on Marner during the first period of Thursday's contest.

Sergachev received a two-minute penalty. Marner wasn't hurt on the play and finished the game.

Marner said postgame that Sergachev apologized to him about the hit, according to the Toronto Sun's Terry Koshan.

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price will rejoin the club Monday after spending the last month in the NHL's player assistance program, head coach Dominique Ducharme confirmed Friday.

Ducharme added that Price will meet with athletic trainers Monday to develop a plan moving forward as he gets ready to return to the crease. It's unknown how much more time he'll need to get game-ready. Price was also recovering from offseason knee surgery prior to the program.

The 34-year-old entered the program voluntarily on Oct. 7 and was expected to come back after completing the minimum 30 days in it.

Price returned to his MVP form during the playoffs last season, leading the Canadiens to an improbable run to the Stanley Cup Final. He posted a .924 save percentage over 22 games during the postseason after putting up a .901 save percentage during the regular season.

So I don’t have a subscription to ESPN+ but I’m using a friends login for Hulu. Just finished up a movie and see the Anaheim/Arizona game in the app. Click on that and it says I can watch the game live on ESPN+. So I hit select and here I am watching the game 🤷🏼‍♂️
For fun, I went to the ESPN app and tried to watch the same game, including the Kings/Devils and wasn’t able because I don’t have a subscription…lulz.

I would also like to add that the combo of Leah Hextall and Kevin Weekes es no en fuego.

YOU'RE FIRED!!!!

The Chicago Blackhawks have dismissed head coach Jeremy Colliton along with assistants Sheldon Brookbank and Tomas Mitell. Four other assistants, including Marc Crawford and goaltending coach Jimmy Waite, will remain in their positions.

The team named Derek King interim bench boss. King was the head coach of Chicago's AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.

The Blackhawks went 1-9-2 to begin this season. Colliton was in his fourth campaign coaching the club, which entered Saturday's action ranked 29th in goals per game and 31st in goals against per contest in 2021-22.

Colliton signed a two-year contract extension with Chicago in January.

The Blackhawks posted a record of 87-92-26 under his guidance, making the playoffs once in 2019-20. The Blackhawks upset the Edmonton Oilers in the qualifying round that season before the Vegas Golden Knights eliminated them over five games in the next stage.

Chicago promoted Colliton from the IceHogs upon firing Joel Quenneville on Nov. 6, 2018 - exactly three years before Saturday's moves.

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Petr Mrazek is expected to miss four weeks due to a groin injury, the team announced Sunday.

Mrazek suffered the injury earlier in the season and re-aggravated it recently. He last played in a game on Oct. 30.

The 29-year-old has appeared in only two contests this season, managing a .877 save percentage and 4.20 goals-against average. Jack Campbell has done the heavy lifting for the Maple Leafs, recording a .936 save percentage and 1.88 goals-against average over 10 games.

Toronto recalled goaltender Joseph Woll from the AHL's Toronto Marlies in a corresponding move Saturday. The Maple Leafs have a busy schedule over the next four weeks with 13 contests and three back-to-backs.
