We need a 2C plain and simple...Trockeck?Well. Malkin’s gone shopping. What can we spend Malkin money on since he’s gone-zo?

J.T. Miller is not going anywhere. He's staying put in Vancouver.I’d prefer Miller
Depends what they do with Rakell and E-Rod and who the back up plan for Malkin is.This isn’t necessarily a bad thing for the Pens. In fact, it could be good. Malkin is hurt. A lot. This gives Hextall the green light to go after other options that will allow them to still be competitive. If Malkin ends up on another team, he’s still at high risk to get hurt.

Yup. Geno could have stayed, still made millions, retired a Pen and basically never bought a beer in Pittsburgh ever again. He’s not in his prime any more, the injury thing can’t be overlooked, and it frees up cash. Staying was “keeping the band together” which has its benefits, but I don’t think this is the worst news - saves some crushing year where all the stars retire at once. The Pens backfilled during his injury(ies) and got by, I’d like to think they can do the same and plus-up a little with the cash. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing for the Pens. 8 years? Today’s NHL, has one good season and he’s automatically worth 6.1 million. Guy was bought out by Dallas a couple years ago.The Colorado Avalanche and pending unrestricted free-agent forward Valeri Nichushkin have reportedly agreed to an eight-year extension with an average annual value of $6.125 million, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
More to come.
