#5 Godspeed You! Black Emperor - G_d's Pee AT STATE'S END!
What a strange package. An LP + 10", but also discs with Side A/Side C and Side B/Side D characteristics. Leave it to GY!BE to make a bizarre physical package. I suppose a 10" does save resources.
This band has been a great recommendation from TLK last year. He was absolutely right about how they are recommended for fans of Stereolab.
I've been listening to the acquisitions from last month + the random stack curated for me in my first four plays so far.
#9 Alvin Curran - Canti E Vedute Del Giardino Magnetico
A truly unique avant-garde escape very in line with the genre. Glass chimes, flugelhorn, synthesizers, and amplified cymbals are all interspersed together here to put forth an esoteric wonder of sound display. If you have curiosity, check it (certainly not for everyone):
Krautrock supergroup composed of Rother, Roedelius, and Moebius. Happy to have this one in my collection, but will it be a permanent mainstay in my curated 500? We shall see in time...
#11 Raul Lovisoni / Francesco Messina - Prati bagnati del monte Analogo
Absolutely breathtaking release that treads the line between minimal and avant-garde. The first track (sidelong) is a 23-minute utopia of spacious beauty. If you liked the Floating Points x Pharaoh Sanders collaboration album from this year, I can vouch for this being a stellar recommendation.
