November 2021 Vinyl Spin Challenge Thread: High wind through the trees, falling November leaves, a weak sun hanging low, summer seems so long ago...

6. Song Title "November Rain"
Play an album that fits perfectly into a cold gray rainy day.

Neal Francis "In Plain Sight" (2021 ATO Records)
I don't usually follow the standard pathos of movies in selecting music when it rains. I tend to go a little more upbeat and maybe a little contemplative to counteract the bleak weather. An album like Neal Francis's new release is just perfect. In addition to including a song like "Can't Stop The Rain", it's exactly what I want to play when it rains. Can't stop the rain, but it doesn't mean your mood has to succumb to it.

I absolutely love this album.

8. Daylight Savings Time Ends
Play an album that references time.

Built to Spill (a.k.a. the one true BTS) - Keep It Like A Secret

Daylight saving time is the definition of a "Time Trap."

World Adoption Day
Play an album by someone who was adopted or who adopted children themselves.

This is definitely one of the tougher themes. I had looked ahead a bit and was like... I have no idea! Many of the most famous adopted musicians were also not ones I had records of (or I don't feel like playing Clapton today).

Anyone heard of Allen Pineda Lindo? This caused me to look a little into his history and it's a pretty insane journey. Shows in many ways how little we know of our musical stars. He goes by apl.de.ap, one of the less recognized members of the Black Eyed Peas. And ANYTIME a theme here gives me a good reason to let the bass out on a Monday morning, I'm gonna take advantage of it. One of my best sounding records.

Might be a bit of a stretch here, but this album includes the suite from Son of Godzilla (1967). In this movie, Godzilla rescues Minilla from two giant preying mantises, and adopts Minilla.

@Kris and I clearly thinking similar things today, but we don't have Fumbling Towards Ecstasy on the shelves around here (yet!) so I'm saved by nature of having had a different release queued up. Between the two I can't say for sure which CD got the most play back in my high school days as I listened to both a LOT. Either way, I'll be forever grateful to this one for introducing me to XTC's "Dear God."
