Lisa O’Neill - All of This is Chance

There’s space stuff on the cover but also she’s from Ireland. This is an otherworldly folk album chosen by @Joe Mac back in February for the N&G ROTM:

20. On the topic of spoken word, the genre was a huge gateway to classic American punk for young me, thanks to Henry Rollins and Jello Biafra finding secondary careers in touring and recording spoken word shows. Many years later, I would find myself sharing a stage with Joey Shithead at a spoken word festival in Calgary.
  • Play something by someone who moved from music into a secondary career.
Torry Castellano (Donna C) was a most badass drummer in The Donnas. After a shoulder injury ended her career, she got interested in poli-sci and human rights, got a law degree at Stanford and is now a public defender in Texas.

What an incredible career arc...

21. On November 21st, 1976, Rocky starring Sylvester Stallone, Talia Shire, and Carl Weathers premiered in New York City. Sly’s younger brother Frank features in the film and on the soundtrack (and the soundtracks to many of Sly’s other films.)
  • Play what you would choose as your entrance music.
The first 1:25 of this will do just fine.

I'm a very slow walker...

Lou Reed - The Blue Mask

22. On November 22nd each year, we leave Scorpio behind us and begin our journey through Sagittarius—the centaur archer who is the traveler of the zodiac.
  • Play something about astrology
Star Sign...

Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque

Funny, I was planning on playing Bandwagonesque but went to the wrong cube and saw Souvlaki instead.

Day 23.
Play an artist who has changed their name for stage reasons.

David Bowie - Young Americans
David (Davy) Jones took the stage name of David Bowie to avoid confusion with Davy Jones of the Monkees. He never legally changed his name to Bowie.

I think this is his most underrated album and is one of like five that jockeys for my personal fave in the catalog on any given day.

23. On November 23rd, 1970, A&M and Island Records released Tea for the Tillerman, the 4th, and most well-known, album by Steven Demetre Georgiou, better known as Cat Stevens, and now known as Yusef, Yusef Islam, or Yusef Islam/Cat Stevens.
  • Play something about parenthood, or
  • Play an artist’s best-known album, or
  • Play an artist who has changed their name for stage and/or religious reasons.
Check, Check, Check.

Charli XCX - brat and it's the same but there's three more songs so it's not

The phenomenon of "brat summer?" The current VP's former presidential campaign taking on the aesthetic of the album era/artwork? The album being mentioned on major news networks? In year's past, Charli's most well-known album was debated, but no longer now. This era increased her IG follower count by over 2M. The original green artwork is iconic, but this edition is spread across 2xLP with, as implied, three more songs.
