One way to look at Day 23's word is the on-the-nose way - that war causes destruction on both sides involved.
But another way I thought of this word and its definition was while I was thinking about this particular song. The fact that war, and those who engage in the planning of it, creates a situation where someone wishes death on, or would celebrate the death of, another person. That's an unfortunate and harsh by-product of this, and is certainly destructive to all parties.
And I hope that you die
And your death will come soon

And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead
