KMD opened for 3rd Bass when I saw them in 91.

The opener opener was Black Corps or something and their whole thing was the had a live band that played AC/DC riffs while they rapped over it. They were kind of terrible but foreshadowed the whole judgement night/nu metal thing.

Kofi is a standout. so is Byrd Blows on Beacon Hill and Odyssey of Iska. for BNCs, the Magnificant Thad Jones is awesome. All the Wayne Shorters. The Hutchersons are also all great.

I can't recommend any VBRs--have long given up on that series due to bad sourcing + quality control.
