During a previous UO sale, someone on N&G mentioned this album was one of the best from last year. I ordered it and agree. Looks like there's only a couple of copies left.UO has 40% off their sale records. It's an okay selection:

Oh wow, I didn't realize that SRX stuff was so expensive. Their stuff is like $75 (USD) new. Well, I guess inflation is a real thing these days. Those prices are high, but definitely on the lower end for the SRX stuff I have seen on eBay etc lately
Les Beatles made me smileThis post is about the opposite of a deal, so maybe it shouldn't be in this sub-forum, but I wasn't sure where to put it. Anyhoo...
I was on-line browsing the records at a shop in Montreal that I like, 33 Tours, when I came across their page of "Rarities". My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw their prices. Has anyone else been noticing the inflated price of used vinyl these days? Sure, some of their box sets are rare, but many of the records on this site are not that special.

I don't even think it's inflation really....some of this stuff is 10+ years old, audiophile label + out of print and out of license. would be surprised if any of that AP Blue Note stuff comes back into print and a lot were pressed before 2010. Mosaic is long OOP and sought after. SRX were very limited and pretty much immediately were selling for $150+ after they sold out. i got the wayne shorter speak no evil SRX and saw them on ebay for sale for $450 within weeks. they honestly aren't terrible prices especially if its in CAD. I wouldn't spend it on those necessarily, but compared to market value they aren't far off (and sometimes cheaper than discogs/ebay). only glanced quickly though so maybe some are wildly off market price. chico freeman spirit sensitive is tempting for me...been looking for that one for a decent price for awhile now.Oh wow, I didn't realize that SRX stuff was so expensive. OK, you seem to know what you're talking about, so I these prices are reasonable. Still... they are expensive. YOWZA! This hobby will wreck your pock-book. I did see a few that were unreasonable though. For example, there's a Ray Brown/Duke Ellington Pablo record that I've seen around used shops for under 10$. Anyhow, thanks for the feedback.I don't even think it's inflation really....some of this stuff is 10+ years old, audiophile label + out of print and out of license. would be surprised if any of that AP Blue Note stuff comes back into print and a lot were pressed before 2010. the only ones that seem to be a total rip off at quick glance are the AP Prestige titles, since they are all being repressed right now.
yea it's the sad state of affairs for OOP AAA jazz reissues. that ray brown is the AP pressing:OK, you seem to know what you're talking about, so I these prices are reasonable. FWIW, in a recent Instagram post, Blue Note confirmed that Grant Green Nigeria will be available for order again in the next month or two.yea it's the sad state of affairs for OOP AAA jazz reissues. that ray brown is the AP pressing:

i agree they are still very expensive in general, but just not compared to the market. people are paying insane prices for records lately. i see people regularly paying $100+ for the Chet Baker and Grant Green Tone Poets (which Blue Note has said time and time again will be repressed). prices have definitely gone up in the past two years across the board in vinyl though. i think part of it is that a lot of people had free time to set up discogs accounts and a lot of the "cheap" copies of albums got snatched up. others saw what some of these records they just had sitting around were selling for and listed them too. and lots of people had more disposable income from not going out for 2 years haha.
really wish i had picked up more of the AP jazz stuff sooner. they really are fantastic, but most OOP ones are out of my price range now.
Don't sleep the original Pablo pressings. Cheaper, available, and sound fine!yea it's the sad state of affairs for OOP AAA jazz reissues. that ray brown is the AP pressing:

YES, that's the Brown/Ellington album I'm talking about! Wow, it's expensive on Discogs. You're totally right about the pandemic forcing up the prices on records. I have a friend who owns a comic book retail store and says the same thing; old issues of comics were almost valueless before the pandemic, and now they're very expensive.yea it's the sad state of affairs for OOP AAA jazz reissues. that ray brown is the AP pressing:
