OK, you seem to know what you're talking about, so I these prices are reasonable. Still... they are expensive. YOWZA! This hobby will wreck your pock-book. I did see a few that were unreasonable though. For example, there's a Ray Brown/Duke Ellington Pablo record that I've seen around used shops for under 10$. Anyhow, thanks for the feedback.
Crazy thing is I bought a couple SRX on eBay at the start of COVID for pretty much list price and now they are pusing $300

YES, that's the Brown/Ellington album I'm talking about! Wow, it's expensive on Discogs. You're totally right about the pandemic forcing up the prices on records. I have a friend who owns a comic book retail store and says the same thing; old issues of comics were almost valueless before the pandemic, and now they're very expensive.
i agree with @JohnnyCashFan -- original pablo pressings are still real cheap, easy to find and sound good.

and i hear ya @JohnnyCashFan . i'm pretty lazy too so a lot of those APs are at 45 and don't interest me much. those 33 APs from awhile back though are incredible. I have Waltz for Debby on 33 that AP did and it's amazing. the recent prestige reissues are also REALLY good.

yea the SRXs are quite valuable because they are really limited, likely OOP forever and not sure those albums will sound better with any other pressings. i also think that BN has agreed not to redo any of the MMJ or SRX titles as Tone Poets, so at best some may be in the BN Classic series. the BN classic series is good enough for 99% of people, but there will always be those jazz fans who want the best of the best.

i'm really bummed that the japanese disk union BN pressings skyrocketed in value so much. i passed on quite a few for around $50-60 and really regret it. 33RPM, really great replicas and all mono. i think they are nicer than the MMJ pressings and now you can't find them for under $150.

The way I look at it is when a new, warped, poppy VMP repress goes for $40+, it makes it easy to ask (and consider paying) $80+ for a flat 1st press or album with superior sound quality - even if it is carefully loved.
i go back and forth on this. VMP charging $40 shouldn't be the market rate for their product. but probably 3 years ago i thought paying $40 for a 1LP was insane....now i'm out here buying most of the AP Prestige represses as they pop up on Acoustic Sounds hah.

I feel like I've seen The Cooker floating around a couple of my locals. I might be wrong though. (I have been before ;))
a bunch of copies available on reddit for around $37+shipping too. not sure if it got repressed or just isn't as popular as some of those others that are selling for crazy prices.

Just glad I was able to Tina Brooks "True Blue" MMJ for a decent price a couple of years ago. It is now eye-wateringly expensive

I'm not sure how we've managed to be talking about these records in the Online Vinyl Deals thread, but if you like Tina Brooks, run don't walk to the MMJ website and order the 45RPM Back to the Tracks. It's easily one of the top-5 best sounding records in my collection, first or second record I play if I'm trying to impress someone with the sound of vinyl. I've never understood why this never seems to have caught the attention of 'collectors.' It's $80 new, but hey, given the new normal, quite a bargain.

I don't think I will ever "easily" pay $40+ (or $80+) for a single LP, no matter the age - especially new pressings with awful QC.
Same here. There are a couple OOP albums that were limited to 300 and are very hard to find and I'm still struggling to pay $40 for a copy of one cause it's a single LP and on principle that seems like BS....

...I may end up breaking for it, but still...

can confirm this one sounds amazing. there are way more 45RPM MMJs in stock than I remembered. they are all $$ though. a lot of people, including myself, soured on them raising prices astronomically as things got closer to selling out. plus no free shipping (unless you spend $200 or somethin crazy).

I'm lucky enough to own the BN Classics Reissue which is just fantastic, but it's up around $100. Original BN and deep grooves are highly sought by BN, Jazz, and Japanese collectors, hence the $80 is probably a good deal (ouch).

There are a few bucket list jazz albums I would do the 80-100 range on, but not a lot.

I think it got repressed. It's on Blue Note's store now for $34

Yeah, these price hikes has made it easier for me to pull the trigger on things that I had previously written off as overpriced since they were out of print. Like I could drop $40 or $50 on some high end classic rock or Jazz album that I likely wouldn’t listen as often as I’d think or I could purchase an album that has been sitting in my Discogs wantlist for the past 5 years but never bought because inflated price due to scarcity.
